Vueling is celebrating a significant milestone at Cardiff Airport. Since operating its first flight seven years ago, the low-cost Spanish airline has welcomed one million customers.

The one millionth passenger – Mr William Boswell from Cardiff – was surprised today at the departure gate by colleagues from Vueling and Cardiff Airport, who presented him with a pair of return flights to Alicante or Malaga.
The prize was a fantastic start to Mr Boswell’s trip to Alicante, who jets off today with Mrs Boswell to celebrate his 67th wedding anniversary.

Passengers preparing to board their flight joined in the celebrations at the gate where there was a celebration cake, individually iced birthday cupcakes and Vueling gifts for everyone to enjoy.

Vueling launched services from Cardiff in spring 2012 and has since offered Welsh customers year round services to Spain. Flights have been released for travel up to September 2020 to Malaga, Alicante and Palma, Majorca.
Situated on southern Spain’s Costa del Sol and surrounded by a wealth of resorts overlooking golden sandy beaches, Malaga promises a getaway for all occasions. An ideal destination for all times of year thanks to its mild climate, visitors can take in the city’s soaring Renaissance cathedral nicknamed La Manquita or hop down to trendy Puerto Banus for a touch of celeb spotting.

For city break enthusiasts looking uncover a slice of Spanish culture, Alicante offers a thriving city port location, home to the old town of Barrio de la Santa Cruz which promises a wealth of narrow streets to explore, striking coloured houses and a strong nightlife scene.

The stunning Balearic island of Majorca is famed for its diverse offering of rich history and culture, stunning scenery and a bustling night life. Resorts such as Puerto Pollensa and Alcudia are popular with young families, while Sa Coma and Cala Bona are ideal for romantic getaways and the lively resorts of Palma Nova and Magaluf are great for nightlife and dancing the night away.

Krassimir Tanev, Global Business Development Manager at Vueling, said: “We’re thrilled to have reached another important UK milestone with Cardiff Airport. Cardiff remains an important part of our network, we are proud to offer a choice of year-round Spanish routes for Welsh customers and it’s a real achievement to have transported 1,000,000 passengers since our launch in 2012.”

Spencer Birns, Chief Commercial Officer at Cardiff Airport, added: “On behalf of the team we’d like to congratulate and thank Vueling on another successful summer at Cardiff Airport, and an important passenger milestone. Vueling has provided our customers with consistent and regular flights to key Spanish destinations over seven years.

Alicante, Malaga and Palma, Majorca are wonderful destinations, and 1,000,000 passengers is testament to just how popular these routes are. We look forward to Vueling’s continued success at Cardiff Airport.”

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
