According to a post on a different forum the CWL-EDI service will continue but will be share with EXT.
No mention of CWL-GLA changes it seems.
A good move to keep the service going!

One small positive for the airport is that Edinburgh returns tomorrow with Loganair and tonight's Glasgow departure has 33 passengers on it.

It looks like Loganair plan to operate the Saab340 on the Glasgow route from the 1/6 to 14/6.
Obviously this is all contingent on the route being back up and running by then.

I think the government support is to keep the Airline alive in it's current state, not seeking new opportunities and opening new routes and bases. Any expansion at CWL with WG support would be completely separate to what they are seeking in the article.

The Welsh government could possibly give support to an airline like Loganair to keep them alive with a condition that in the future they expand at Cardiff.

Is that a form of bribery?
Surely any Airline seeking bailouts does so after exhausting all options, tightening belts as much as possible and requires money to survive in it's current state. The government shouldn't be loaning tax payer money based on future possibilities.

Imagine the backlash from Welsh taxpayers. Welsh Government uses more Welsh tax payers money to keep an airline afloat the only operates 2 routes to CWL.

I would think that given the current situation, tax payers money would be better spent elsewhere. NHS and public services, propping up businesses already struggling in Wales and providing money to people that are heavily out of pocket should be the priority.
If the situation was different then I'd probably have a different view, it's no different to the Flybe deal. But in the current climate, a vanity project to prop up the Airport is not the moral way to go. Theres a big difference to providing funding to make routes viable versus providing funding to keep an entire Airline viable.
Aviation will take a long time to recover and protection should be given to support the current routes CWL has and building them back up, not new routes. The Airport will do just fine with the current route network returning to sustainability.
The only vital routes currently missing from CWL is DUB and CDG. Theres no reason why, in the future, that these routes wouldn't return anyway on their own merit. If the economy takes a long term nose dive, people won't be travelling like they were before anyway.

A government is always going to have to spend money on a countries transport infrastructure and airports and airlinks are part of that especially if you are trying to rebuild an economy. Surely securing vital economic connections like Edinburgh and Glasgow and then potentially Dublin and Belfast and Paris should be a priority for the Welsh government especially with whats to potentially come. As for the current route network I suspect that with any potential economic downturn then airlines like Ryanair and TUI will retrench from Cardiff back to Bristol and the English airports.

I'm very surprised about this but you can book Cardiff to Glasgow with Easyjet on their website. The flight is operated by Loganair of course. It looks like Easyjet and Loganair are partners through Worldwide by Easyjet. Oddly you can't book flights to Edinburgh though.

I haven't got an easyJet app so use the easyJet website booking engine.

Using that I find that CWL does not appear in the drop-down list of airports served by easyJet from GLA but instead you have to type in CWL either as the departure or arrival airport for the GLA route. So you have to know about the possibility in the first place.

The dates for the GLA route currently begin on 1 June and go through until the end of 31 January 2021. Once a date for the flight is selected the details are accessed via the Worldwide flights button below.

If I type in EDI instead of GLA against CWL I get the same results as with GLA until the point where I put in a date for the flight and actuate the Worldwide flights button. With EDI I receive this message, "Unfortuantely there are no available flights on your selected dates. Change your flight details and try again". So far no date has worked. The EDI flights are available from 1 June until 31 October according to the booking calandar.

Seems strange having this tie-up between easyJet and Loganair if they don't make it easier to book flights via the easyJet booking engine. If CWL is not in the easyJet drop-down list of airports how will people know of the Loganair tie-up?

easyJet's Worldwide and Partner Direct airlines are Norwegian, Virgin Atlantic, Cathay Pacific, Westjet, Loganair, Corsair, neos, La Compagnie and Aurigny.

Incidentally, I tried a test booking with easyJet from BRS to GCI (Guernsey) with Aurigny and was able to book flights. A similar check with Loganair's BRS-ABZ (Aberdeen) gave the same result as CWL-EDI, ie it was in the booking engine but no dates were available.

Perhaps the system is in process of being updated and CWL-EDI will be available soon.

The only thing I can think is that they don't want to promote another airlines rival service too much. Especially one which could siphon passengers away from their own route at Bristol.
Easyjet has never really seen South Wales as a separate area to serve but more as part of Bristols catchment area so it is a surprise to me that they are offering it all. I possibly wonder if they are contractually obliged to as part of the bigger Worldwide by Easyjet deal with Loganair? So it will be curious to see if Edinburgh comes up eventually.

The CWL management ought to make a virtue of the easyJet association and ensure that potential passengers are aware. The easyJet name might tempt some passengers who will believe that somehow the route is part of easyJet albeit it's being operated by Loganair. I wonder if the CWL-GLA flight will carry an easyJet flight code as well as that of Loganair. My test booking only shows a Loganair flight code so perhaps it's not a full-blown code share.

I'm not really sure what the partnership with Loganair brings to easyJet.

Access to their Highlands and Islands network i'd have thought especially as a counter to BA who also codeshare on those routes with Loganair.

Assuming they even know about it? It definitely would be a bit of nice PR to advertise the fact that people can book with them but would it potentially annoy Loganair who may prefer people to book directly with them.

1 of the main things different to Easy and Loganair is the cost of flights. Now if the Easy flight code was used on Loganair flights, who would alter the price of a flight. If they did codeshare i can see problems and the main problem would br CWL to lose the flight.2 different airlines and cant see how it will work and 1 thing is it cant see Loganair bring price down to the easy prices and like wise cant see Easy putting up their price to come in line with Loganairs prices.

Prices look to be around the same as what Loganair is charging and I generally don't see why Easyjet selling the flight would lead to Loganair pulling off the route? If advertised it could lead to passengers who might not have used the route before using it potentially helping increase passenger numbers on the route.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
