Lufthansa Cargo will add a new flight from Los Angeles to Manchester from Tuesday 15th September.

It will use the B77F, meaning that there will be 2 flights from New York JFK using MD11, one from Dallas using B77F and now a B77F from Los Angeles.

Even if it is just 1 way cargo, crazy to think Lufthansa serves so many points from the USA to MAN!

Only a pipe dream but next we ll see passenger long haul from Lufthansa  I know Sabena use to do it from Gatwick in the late 80s with B747 and DC-10s. :s_crazy

Sabena used to do long haul from MAN too, to JFK with B707's and piston jets.

Aer Lingus, CSA Czech and others have also done long haul from MAN.

We have now seen one of every type from the Current Lufthansa fleet, however.

B737, CRJ700, CRJ900, E195, A319/20/21, A330-200/300, A340-300/600, B747-400/8, B77F, MD11F.

I don't think any other UK airport can lay claim to this.

Lufthansa have brought forward their new cargo service from Los Angeles start date.

Instead of starting 15th Sept, it now starts next Monday, 31st August.

LH8231 arrives at MAN at 2100, it then departs at 0225 the next morning (let's hope it doesn't wake the residents of Mobberly and Knutsford up each week).

Lufthansa must have paid quite a fee to use those slots for such a large aircraft, 2300-0600 is very heavily QC rated for take offs!

I know this is a Lufthansa thread but Eurowings are a Lufthansa subsidiary, keeps the news tidy.

Dusseldorf-Manchester will see the A320 used on 2 of the 3 daily flights from May, and then all 3 daily flights from the winter timetable.

Hamburg will remain 2 daily CRJ900 for the summer, barring sporadic changes to the A320 thought the summer. Then, winter will see 2 daily A320. (Easyjet also responding to this by increasing from 5 weekly to daily, will be interesting to see how it pans out).

Cologne looks to be going from 5 weekly to daily in August, but not fully loaded yet.

I thought that was interesting.

It would be good to see the numbers connecting through other "local" hubs - I haven't seen a similar artie for LHR, AMS, CDG etc but there were a lot of adverts in Jan for AF and KLM.

Eurowings news but does sit within the Lufthansa group.

Cologne will be increased from 5 to 6 weekly Nov/Dec/Jan. New flights on Saturday.

Thought it was interesting, as this route has been a steady 5 weekly for as long as I can remember.

In case anybody is interested Lufthansa's last ever 737 flight to Manchester is planned for 27th August. Full list on the link below.

In recent schedule listing, Lufthansa has filed planned last Boeing 737-300 operation, scheduled on 29OCT16. This would mark the end of Lufthansa’s Boeing 737 operation since 1968. As of 14JUN16, planned Boeing 737-300 operational routes and respective last operational date as follow.

Frankfurt – Manchester Last 737 flight on 27AUG16

Well, I think we all saw that coming with Ryanair moving onto their patch.

Still, great to see Lufthansa move to 5 daily on MAN-FRA, be interesting to see if this finally brings fares down on the route. For a previously 4 daily route, they were always so high.

LH cargo will start a new LH8049 cargo flight from Seattle later in the month. Calls through on Saturdays with the B77F

It will have a time change and another stop en route, as these are the timings given

LH8049 LAX 2300 MAN a1715/d1845

1735 SN2178 Brussels
1735 LH2503 Munich
1805 LH947 Frankfurt
2000 EW9345 Dusseldorf
2005 EW343 Cologne

There is only one destination not featured here is Innsbruck by Austrian which runs on a Saturday and Sunday.

Quite an impressive schedule!

That's some serious capacity from LH group. Perhaps another rotation to MUC is on the cards if LH try to grow the hub there. Wish we could see which connections are made via FRA and MUC...

LH are basing 5 A380 at Munich in 2018.

That said maybe they will feed Manchester not the other way around :)

11th July sees a LH cargo MD-11 operating, arriving 1020 departing 1150.

Reason it's highlighted as for once, it's operating the other way round, and heading to the USA (JFK) instead of from the USA.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
