Peak Summer (July and August) will see Orlando increase from 8 to 9 weekly with 2 daily on Tue/Sat.

Couldn't see anything reduced to accommodate, so, looks like it's using one of the STN/GLA/LGW aircraft to add to the schedule.

Just looked at the TCX long-haul timetable:
Boston: Mon, Tues, Fri, Sat (all not for whole of season)
Cancun: daily except Mon
Cayo Coco: Weds
Holguin: Mon, Thurs
Las Vegas: Tues, Sat, Sun (all whole season) Mon, Thurs, Fri (not for whole of season)
Los Angeles: Mon, Sat (all whole season) Weds (not for whole of season)
Miami: Fri, Sun (all not for whole of season)
New York: daily
Orlando: daily
Punta Cana: Mon, Thurs, Fri
San Francisco: Thurs, Sun
Santa Clara: Sat
Varadero: Fri

The PDF version is quite 'flimsy', so it's best to use the search format, as it shows things like the 9 weekly MCO versus 'daily'.

Looks like there's a need for a 7th long haul aircraft then with some gaps for new routes even in peak summer

I am expectingat least 2 new routes, and MIA still needs to be put on sale. JFK keeps playing up with sometimes showing a 2nd JFK on Thursdays too.

I remember last year they were showing at more than daily to JFK for a while. Seems to be something they're toying with. 6 weekly Cancun is the surprising one so far but seems legit.

From the CAA figures available, MIA didn't seem to be as strong as some other routes, which rather surprised me.
What also surprised me from David's list is that BOS is 4 x weekly for part of the summer as I thought with the VS competition neither airline was doing particularly well on that route. And as I understand it, VS are expected to resume BOS next summer albeit with an even shorter season of 4 months.

Boston goes 4 weekly in June only. Not sure what's driving that frequency for just one month, it must be purely for aircraft utilisation as can't see any reason travel to BOS would be particularly strong for just one month.

In terms of JFK, currently 2 weeks in May still show '2' flights on Thursdays, which is 17th and 24th. I use the term 2 loosely as currently it's a duplicate of the MT2848 but this format has been used to 'placehold' a new flight before.

Lastly, Miami has been the weaker of the routes, but it's one of those routes that would do better in winter and connect onto cruise flights. I've been to Miami a few times and apart from South Beach or down to the Keys, there isn't an awful lot to do, certainly not on the scale of other US cities. Would suggest further that a route to Fort Lauderdale may do even better. Miami seems to be returning next year so the route may be 'just ticking over' for TCX.

I would suggest that Miami and Fort Lauderdale would be a matter of selecting one or the other airport for service rather than both. MIA and FLL serve the Miami city-region in the same way that LHR and LGW serve London or CDG and ORY serve Paris. Fort Lauderdale is very convenient for the nearby Port Canaveral Cruise Terminal (virtually alongside the airport), but Carnival Cruises depart from their own facility closer to downtown Miami.

One small correction, Port Everglades is in Fort Lauderdale. Port Canaveral is some 160 miles further north.

I was actually suggesting TCX swapped MIA for FLL. The latter would also work well in leu of the JetBlue codeshare TCX enjoys. FLL is their southern Florida hub versus Miami.

Or, alternatively, I'm hoping they may keep (but slightly reduce Miami) but introduce Tampa. Although Fort Lauderdale was selected by Emirates for their JetBlue codeshare, could be a good option.

I think Tampa is only 80 miles or so from Orlando. Although I believe some cruises start at Tampa - not sure of the water network there before St Petes/Clearwater - I would have thought Miami or Fort Lauderdale was the better bet for potential cruise business. Tampa is certainly convenient for the 2 resorts mentioned and part way down the Gulf Coast, but wouldn't it tend to detract from Orlando traffic rather than create new business?

Seattle Calling - Thomas Cook Airlines announce new Manchester to Seattle Route for Summer 2018

Thomas Cook Airlines is today launching its long haul-flight programme for Summer 2018 and announcing a new route from Manchester to Seattle, USA from May next year. The addition of Seattle reinforces Thomas Cook Airlines’ position as the largest long-haul carrier from Manchester, serving more USA routes than any other airline.

Surrounded by water, mountains and forests, Seattle is the largest city in Washington and offers a multitude of things to see and do. From the breath-taking views at the top of Space Needle and the iconic Seattle Great Wheel to the tastes and smells of Pike Place Market, one of the country’s oldest farmers market, holidaymakers will be spoilt for choice. For those wanting to venture further afield, the Victoria Clipper makes for an unforgettable trip to Canada.

Tickets for summer 18 are now on sale with the first flight to Seattle taking off on 27th May. This new destination follows the recent introduction of San Francisco (SFO) and the year-round service to New York (JFK) from Manchester. With prices to the USA from £399 return, Thomas Cook Airlines is a smart choice for customers wanting to explore the US. All tickets include free checked-in baggage (up to 50 pounds) as well as meals and inflight entertainment on seat-back screens with a choice of free and paid-for premium content, featuring more than 30 movies and 50 TV shows.

“We are proud to be continuing our expansion to the USA by launching Seattle as a new destination next year. Our German Condor operation has served Seattle for many years and the year-round service has been really popular with our passengers”, said Christoph Debus, CEO Thomas Cook Group Airline. “We work closely with partner airlines, allowing us to connect customers to 90 destinations within the USA. Alaska Airlines, based in Seattle is an important partner offering our customers even more choice to the likes of British Columbia, Alberta, Alaska and Hawaii.”

Thomas Cook Airlines is the biggest long-haul carrier from Manchester Airport. It has the largest number of long-haul aircrafts (eight Airbus A330) and serves the most non-stop long-haul routes – with more to the USA than any other airline. The addition of Seattle underlines its commitment to Manchester airport as the long-haul hub of the North, and broadens the choice of destinations for holidaymakers and business travellers in the region.

Collette Roche, Interim Managing Director at Manchester Airport, said: “To secure a direct route to Seattle is further testament to the role Manchester Airport plays in the North and UK as a whole. We now offer more than a dozen direct destinations to the USA, meaning we have grown the number of seats on sale to US destinations at a greater rate than any other UK airport this year.

“This is hugely positive news for the 22m passengers in our catchment area – which spans from Scotland to the Midlands and Merseyside to Yorkshire, and the millions of people a year who connect to our long haul network from locations across the UK and Europe.”

Oh my god!

MT2686 MAN 1210 SEA 1340 332 47
MT2685 SEA 1540 MAN 0845 +1 332 47

Round trip flights from £409.98

Really good news to secure this route, and encouraging to hear the amount of transfer passengers too. Manchester and Seattle have much in common and this is the exact kind of route a business class cabin would work on.

@Jerry I hope you will be using the service for your trips to the Pacific Northwest! ;)

If it's cheap enough i might well look at it!
I was looking at TCX this year flying via LAX to PDX but with my travelling costs up to MAN and back it didn't work out cheaper so I stuck with KLM and return via CDG with Air France. I do know a friend of mine who's travelling to Cuba with Thomas Cook in a couple of weeks from MAN he said he choose it over Gatwick, him and his wife are travelling up the night before. MAN does attract people from South Wales.

Great, well keep us posted if you are able to use the service. Certainly a lot easier than going via LAX! Now if Flybe started a CWL-MAN route...!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
