We currently have 8 A330s based and I can’t imagine that shrinking for next summer. Maybe waiting to see what Virgin do? There’s also uncertainty about Chicago returning so it may just be a strategic delay whilst they consider the best deployment. Or it could be bad news just like Miami which just got quietly canned despite seemingly performing ok.

I've just seen a post on a Manchesters spotting Facebook page that JFK will go 8 weekly Seattle will be 3 weekly and LAX 2 weekly for next summer.

I see TCX are pulling their long haul flights from Stansted (Orlando, Las Vegas & Cancun) - another aircraft heading to MAN for next summer?

Coathanger you could say rather remaining.

Stansted and Glasgow share a frame (been using the Scandinavian 333 this year) during the requisite Scottish and English school holiday periods.

I believe they have decided to close the Stansted season out next year.

If Air Tanker are placing VYGM with competitor Jet2 next summer then they may well need OY-VKG to cover up north !

Yet there is still time for TCX to deploy HiFly services in addition as well.

Certainly plausible that HIFly operates any shorter haul widebody programme in the high season if required to do so - hows about that A380 to Palma !

Unless Thomas Cook get new aircraft then i wouldn't be surprised if Glasgow ends up going as well to cater for their expansion at MAN.

From Breaking Travel News.com

"Thomas Cook Airlines has announced its full summer 2019 long haul programme is now on sale for flight-only and package holidays, including new flights to Montego Bay and more flights to Seattle, Orlando and Cancun.

Thomas Cook Airlines will fly from Manchester, London Gatwick and Glasgow to 13 destinations in the USA, the Caribbean and Mexico.

The airline will also strengthen its core long-haul fleet with an Airbus A332.

The new aircraft will have fully refurbished premium and economy cabins, seat back in-flight entertainment and USB charging points.

Based at Manchester airport, it increases the Thomas Cook Group Airline fleet of A332s to eight and the group airline total long-haul fleet to 27.

Thomas Cook Airlines is Manchester airport’s largest long-haul carrier.

There are 720,000 long-haul seats on sale from Manchester for summer next year.

Seattle, which launched in May this year, will increase from two flights a week to three (the same frequency as San Francisco), Cancun will fly daily (same as New York) and 13 flights a week will go to Orlando at peak season, a growth of 21 per cent compared to summer 18.

Montego Bay is a brand new long-haul destination.

Henry Sunley, commercial director at Thomas Cook Airlines, said: “In the past two years we have increased flights to destinations such as San Francisco, so we are pleased to grow Seattle following its inaugural flight earlier this year, and Orlando which we know is really popular with our customers.

“We have a fantastic summer season of long-haul flights ahead.

“Strengthening our core fleet is a really important part of delivering great experiences for our customers, so we are looking forward to operating a new A332 in the long-haul programme next year.”

Hmm...how has Boston been performing for TCX (& Virgin)?

Just saw an article (below) about Dublin's new transfer facility and the top 5 TATL transfers through Dublin were listed. Boston to Manchester was one of them.

https://www.businesstraveller.com/business-travel/2018/08/17/dublin-airport-opens-new-transfer-area/
More daily flights could mean more competition and cheaper prices on the Boston route and then add pre clearance it may make the Dublin option more attractive than direct flights.

Have Thomas Cook finished with 9H-AGU or has it just gone back to Beja for maintenance?
I notice it has acquired Thomas Cook livery on its winglets btw.

Reported on numerous other threads, but from the start of the winter schedule Thomas Cook will change their callsign.

After a period of around 20 years we will no longer hear "Kestrel" but "Thomas Cook". Kestrel goes back to the days of My travel and, before that, to Airtours.

Using "Thomas Cook" as their call sign seems somewhat longwinded.
It may have three syllables but won't be much different to transmit than many other callsigns out there...

"Thom-as-cook" (TCX)
"Nor-shutt-le" (NAX)
"Air Can-a-da" (ACA)
"Em-ir-ates" (UAE)
"Et-i-had" (ETD)

and to a lesser extent:
"Speed-bird" (BAW)
"Tom-jet" (TOM)
"Sham-rock" (EIN)

New winter routes are Palma and Marrakesh. There is also a short series of flights to Antigua, Ivalo and Mauritius.

Despite what I said on the Jet2 thread about them being the largest based airline, I now see that TCX are looking to increase their complement to 18.5 based with an extra A321 and a part based short haul A330.
Boston is discontinued but replaced by Montego Bay.

Thomas Cook (UK)
Summer 2019 rumour
Increase from x17 to x18.5 based with extra A321 and part based short-haul A330. No BOS, new route MBJ.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
