  • Award-winning airline and tour operator recommence flights and holidays programme from Birmingham Airport, waving customers off to the sunshine!
  • Flights departed this morning to Green List destinations – Ibiza and Majorca
  • Further flights to Menorca and Madeira also due to take off from the base over the next few days

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays took to the skies once again this morning, (1st July), as the award-winning airline and tour operator recommenced its flights and holidays programme from Birmingham Airport, following last week’s announcement from the UK Government on international travel.

Flights departed from Birmingham Airport to Ibiza and Majorca with customers in the region jetting off for some much-needed sunshine to the Green List destinations. Flights with Jet2.com and Jet2holidays will also depart to Menorca tomorrow (2nd July) and Madeira on Saturday (3rd July). This is in addition to the company’s programme of flights and holidays that is already operating to Jersey.

Following the news last week that the Balearic Islands (Majorca, Menorca and Ibiza), Malta and Madeira have been put onto the Green List, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays reported a huge surge in bookings from Birmingham Airport to these destinations, with customers flocking to book July and August holidays.

The leading leisure airline and package holiday specialist reported the highest volume of bookings to the Balearic Islands in almost a year, with bookings for July alone up more than 3,000% at one point. Bookings for Madeira also jumped by almost 1,500% as customers took the chance to finally book and enjoy their much-needed holidays. In response, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have put additional flights on sale to Madeira from Birmingham Airport, representing thousands of extra seats on sale in July and August.

As well as booking and travelling on award-winning flights and ATOL protected package holidays to these destinations from Birmingham Airport, customers can get to experience and enjoy the company’s VIP customer service which has seen Jet2.com and Jet2holidays win high-profile accolades before and during the pandemic, such as Which? Recommended Provider and TripAdvisor’s Best AirlineUK and Top 10 Airlines of the World.

This VIP customer service includes friendly flight times and a generous 22kg baggage allowance through a flight-only booking with Jet2.com, seeing the airline win five accolades at the 2020 TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice® Awards for Airlines; or that very same VIP customer service, in-resort Customer Helpers, transfers, free child places and ATOL protection with the UK’s second largest tour operator, Jet2holidays. As well as a choice of thousands of 2-5 star hotels through Jet2holidays, customers can take advantage of millions of Free Child Places which are available this summer.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “We are delighted to see our international flights take off again today from Birmingham Airport and to be resuming our award-winning flights and holidays programme to Ibiza and Majorca. As well as waving customers off to these destinations this morning, we also have flights to Menorca and Madeira due to depart over the next few days, so we look forward to taking more customers in the region on their well-deserved holidays.

“We know how much pent-up demand there is from our customers and independent travel agents to enjoy our award-winning flights and real package holidays once again, and we have already added extra flights to Madeira to cope with demand. It is fantastic to be back in the air and our focus now is on doing what we do best - delivering award winning customer service and package holidays you can trust! We look forward to more destinations being added to the UK’s Green List very soon and taking more customers to their favourite sunshine hotspots.”

Tom Screen, Aviation Director at Birmingham Airport said: “It was great to see Jet2.com and Jet2holidays busy check in area this morning for the return of their international flights. Customers were jetting off, on very much needed, sunshine breaks to Ibiza and Majorca. It has been almost six months since Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have flown leisure flights from Birmingham so this is a huge welcome back.

“Customers travelling from Birmingham Airport can rest assured that they are flying from a Covid-19 secure Airport, as we have invested heavily to make journeys as safe and secure as possible. When flying with Jet2.com and Jet2holidays customers can also experience the high level of customer service that they have come to expect from this award-winning airline. We are delighted to have them back today and look forward to a safe and busy summer of leisure flying together.”

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
