Eastern to launch new Norway flights from Newcastle and Aberdeen

Eastern Airways is to launch additional flights to Stavanger from Aberdeen and Newcastle. Aberdeen gains new flights from 5 October, while Newcastle gains a new Sunday service from 11 October. The enhanced services will be introduced at the same time as Eastern Airways’ new flights from Aberdeen and Newcastle to Bergen.

New additional early morning flights from Stavanger to Aberdeen will operate between Monday and Thursday, leaving Stavanger at 07:30 and arriving in Aberdeen at 07:50 local time. On Mondays to Wednesdays a new evening service will leave Aberdeen at 18:30, arriving in Stavanger at 20:50.

Newcastle will gain an additional Sunday service, leaving Newcastle at 16:00, arriving in Stavanger at 18:50 local time. The return flight departs Stavanger at 19:30 and arrives in Newcastle (via Aberdeen) at 21:15.

Chris Holliday, Eastern Airways’ chief operating officer, said: ‘Combined with the introduction of our new services to Bergen from Aberdeen and Newcastle, the extra flights to Stavanger demonstrate our commitment to developing routes between the UK and Norway.'

Eastern Airways is Newcastle’s most punctual airline

Eastern Airways has been named Newcastle Airport’s most punctual scheduled airline for the fourth time in five years. The airline, which has been operating from Newcastle for more than eight years, was the best on-time performer again in 2010, ahead of airlines including KLM, Brussels Airlines, British Airways, Ryanair, easyJet and flybe.

Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) departure and arrival data was analysed by flightontime.info and showed that 89% of Eastern Airways’ Newcastle services departed within 15 minutes, with any delays on average only 8 minutes. Kay Ryan, Eastern Airways’ commercial director, said: ‘This is a tremendous achievement and is down to the commitment and dedication of our crews, engineers and staff in Newcastle. Our customers expect reliable, dependable transport and we will endeavour to further reduce our average delay time of 8 minutes to ensure we remain Newcastle’s number one airline for on-time departures.’

It's been suggested elsewhere that Eastern could open up a NCL-LCY service by adding a NCL stop to the current ABZ-LCY service.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
