My son is flying out of Bristol Airport soon, but I have to stay in the UK. How far can I accompany him into the airport.....is there a cafe or lounge where we can share a meal together? Also, is there a place where I can watch his plane take off? Any information would be appreciated.

Hello, Arwen2023 and welcome to the forum. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with Bristol airport, but their website https://www.bristolairport.co.uk/at-the-airport/shop-and-eat/ shows cafe's that are landside (i.e. before security). Hopefully, someone more familiar with the airport will be able to advise on locations to watch departures.

Regards

Kevin

At the airport there is a Caffè Nero upstairs just before security - they have seating there so you can grab a last minute drink and snack together before he passes through the security checkpoint… (bear in mind short term parking costs currently come in at £12 for up to 2hrs in the short stay car park on site, so if you’re planning on hanging around for a while be prepared to stump up a fee - alternatively I’d suggest the use of a public bus which drops you a short distance from the main terminal)

As for watching the take-off, you’d have to leave the airport grounds and head down to Winters Lane where there’s a spotting viewpoint (the best what3words location I can give is ///hatter.pages.absorb)

Hope this helps! (y)

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
