Really been blown away by the positive and vocal response from the WY Mayor to £100m investment in transport in her county 🤣. Last week she, Leeds MP Rachel Reeves and her party were calling out on how investment is needed in transport in the North to encourage growth. A week later they get £100m and guess what not even a sqeak!
Like I said last week, she's not interested unless she can claim the credit. At least she's consistent in ignoring the airport.

Actress. Who doesn’t care about West Yorkshire and cares only about her pathetic profile. Crap actress, crap MP, and sh*t mayor.

Shame we haven’t got Andy Burnham.

Dear LBA Support Group

I am writing to provide an exciting update on Leeds Bradford Airport.

Today, we are announcing over a £100m investment into a vital regeneration of the terminal facilities at LBA which will dramatically improve the experience of passengers travelling to and from Yorkshire and help unlock economic growth for the region. Please see a selection of CGIs attached to give you an idea of the look and feel of the project.

Approved by Leeds City Council, the work is set to commence in autumn 2023 and is expected to complete in 2026.

We’re proud to have served our region since 1931, and we believe that Leeds, Bradford and Yorkshire deserve an outstanding regional airport that meets the status and aspirations of its communities. This multi-million-pound investment into LBA will futureproof our airport for years to come and ensure it can continue to be a turbocharger for our region’s economy.

By 2030, the regeneration has the potential to create 1,500 new direct jobs at LBA and 4,000 new indirect jobs, as well as contribute a total of £940 million to the local economy.

As Yorkshire’s main commercial airport, we will ensure LBA meets the demand for flights in our region that is efficient, sustainable, and more enjoyable for passengers. Please find an infographic attached which provides an overview of what the regeneration will deliver for passengers and the region.

Since opening in 1968, LBA’s current terminal has had multiple small extensions but has remained largely the same. The regeneration will see a 9,500 sq. mt., three storey extension to the existing terminal, alongside a significant refurbishment of the current terminal building. Passengers will benefit from the creation of additional aircraft stands, more seating, faster security, new shops and eateries, and a larger baggage reclaim area and immigration hall, as well as improved access for passengers with restricted mobility.

The regeneration will also help LBA to further decarbonise its operations, as outlined in the airport’s 2030 Net Zero Carbon Roadmap, with the installation of new heating, lighting and machinery, including new baggage belts. With an upgraded LBA, we expect to see airlines investing in new destinations and deploying their newest, quietest and most efficient aircraft at the airport.

As I hope you will agree, this investment marks a hugely exciting opportunity for the region. For more information and to keep you updated with the project’s progress, I would encourage you to view the project’s dedicated webpage at www.leedsbradfordairport.co.uk/regen If you have any comments or questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Don't see why not, after all, the Support Group has been around since around 1989! And we've been represented on the Airport Consultative Committee for the entire time. Unlike a group I could mention, but won't.

I wouldn’t call it fine. It suffices as it is and does it purpose. But it really ought to become a concrete fixture with a decent roof and walls etc.

Likewise that baggage hall from check in hall B needs to become a permanent building not a very decent tent.

However I’m not complaining as we have got some very decent work going on, not what we could of had, but none the less. Very decent and I’m happy. Be interesting to see peak hours in the new security zone - I suspect traffic will flow a lot better than it does now.

My only criticism would be it would be nice to have a direct entry from Check in Hall b into the security hall.

The airside section had an extension to the side of the building next to the old stand three when they re built the baggage belt system a few years back.

Fantastic to see this development finally getting off the ground. Flew in from AGP on Sat night, and so many people complaining about the broken escalator and having to use the steps heading into arrivals, and how tired the airport looked.
Not sure how many times we need to cover this, but the escalator works just fine. It's turned off most of the time due to H&S directives due to the proximity of the top of the escalator to the top of the stairs . This has caused incidents in the past whereby people reaching the top of the escalator couldn't get off it due to people leaving the stairs and blocking their exit - with predictable results. Ironically, it only ever gets switched on when it's quiet, and then there aren't many people there to use it!

What is interesting is when Labour is involved in airports it does seem to back them. If you take Doncaster council and Doncaster Airport as one example and then Cardiff Wales and the Labour Welsh government who have supported the airport there. I just don't think they like to admit it now they're awash with green fanatics. If they end up in a position where they're in government at Westminster I think they will have to come clean an openly support airports otherwise their so called 10 years infrastructure plan will end up on its arse.

Labour in Government will be the very worst thing to happen to this country. He's in partnership with the WEF so the middle class will be destroyed. The green agenda accelerated. And our useless brain dead morons who represent Leeds in Westminster, the witch with a broom stuck so far up her own arse who's our "mayor" and the moronic freaks in Leeds council will just sit an abide by their orders.

I am going to be really honest with you @Sherburnflyer92 please please please can you change the subject and stop talking about the World Economic Forum. Lets discuss the things that we can control, not the things we can't.

Truth - it's why everything is happening. Sadly it's affecting us all.

The belt mechanism is actually new too which is good and considerably more efficient than it used to be but moving forward the building will have to be moved or go. It can't stay indefinitely. That is my opinion anyway. I still believe the new terminal extension could form part of a future new terminal. We can wish at least.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
