I wish you'd have allowed three :ROFLMAO:

I've gone for United and Cathay.

United because, for me, NYC must hopefully be up there along with BOM as an absolute priority. I voted United but would be just as happy with JetBlue or the less likely AA.

I chose Cathay as it would be nice for a direct scheduled service to the far east. I'd happily take Singapore but given recent comments I opted for Cathay :)

Toronto comes very close to the above, whether that is Air Canada or Westjet I really wouldn't mind.

If you could select more, the poll wouldn't be as conclusive.
I tried to set up a poll some time ago (I can't even remember what it was now, but it related to a members question on the BHX forum). When I found that it could only request 2 replies out of several, the poll I wanted became nonsensical and so was abandoned.

Just for a bit of fun, thought I would set up a poll, to see which 2 long haul airlines you would like to see at Birmingham in the next few years.

Feel free to leave any messages on your choices, if you choose "Other Airline", please state the airline(s) in question! :D
Jet Blue. Singapore.

Love to see a South American connection but have not got a clue to where. Lisbon and Madrid have it all covered, plus LHR.

I agree with Karl C, and Ethiopian would be a good option. Africa is a long term growth market. Ethiopian are lining Addis Adaba as a continental hub. 1,400 departures a week to 115 destinations in 67 countries (thanks FR24). We need to be part of that even with them serving MAN, LGW and LHR...or an other emerging African hub.

So I picked the following two airlines Air Canada and Cathay Pacific here’s to reasons why

Cathay:
  • Cargo and frieight
  • University
  • Birminghams tourist attractions:Star city,Birmingham museum,Resorts world ,Chelmsley wood😅
  • China and it’s famous for its Chinese new year
  • Food
  • Great Wall of China
Air Canada
  • Niagra falls
  • Famous winter season
  • Sport ,Hockey ice skating
  • Food and drink
  • Culture
  • Nature

Like @Just love planes, Air Canada for me - particularly a direct flight daily to Toronto. There's a massive demand, and apparently its an amazing city (never been).

I'd also say Jet Blue for the low cost US options it would bring.

Part of my vote was what i consider to be realistic. As fun as it might be to have Qantas flying from BHX, the chances are, i suggest, vanishingly small. On that theme, i do wonder whether two new operators flying to Toronto and JFK/Newark might actually clash with one another given that the two cities are relatively close. One for the flight planners, i suppose.

Canada's West Coast is also good for Winter Sports, Whistler where the Winter Olympics bobsleigh took place and where Amy Williams won gold for Britain. And Whale Watching and it has some beautiful National Parks, and stunning scenery

I would take WestJet, Air Transat or Air Canada and JetBlue or United possibly American to. But I Went for other and JetBlue

Back in the day when BA operated BHX to JFK they did extend the service to YYZ operated with a 757 routing BHX-JFK-YYZ-JFK-BHX daily before finally giving up having originally started with a daily 767-300 to JFK.

Thee big attraction with Toronto besides the city itself is the fact Niagra Falls is only an hour away by road.

My vote was Jet Blue to JFK (a possibility) and Singapore (wishful thinking)

Whistler is onthe east coast with Vancouver the destination city, also the place for whale watching. It would be great to have it on the BHX destination board but I can't see it to be honest 😕

Having seen the exchange rate and there being a very difficult to judge election in US I wouldn`t even think of going to US.

Banff National Park is the place to ski in Canada. Shame Air Transat don’t do long haul from Calgary YYC anymore.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
