In the past month I have had three parcels delivered to me from Florida, via Miami which have come with DHL into East Midlands. The service i recieved was reliable and very fast indeed, infact one parcel left Miami on a Tuesday and was at my home on the Thursday of the same week. Even though i had no personal interaction with the company i could not fault them

I just wonder (as my knowledge is limited on the cargo side of things) how often do DHL operate flights?

Thanks for making your first post mick and welcome to Forums4airports!

Out of interest what on earth do the oil industry want to do with a 68ft tree? :dunno:

When they cap a bore ( the hole the oil comes out of) they put in a system for piping the oil depending depending how they want it to run it has a branch some have up to 10 branches hence the name they are made in leeds sorry but with being with mates at work I forget that people may not know what a tree is its the same in all industries

For anyone who is interested there should be a Cargolux 747 coming into EMA on Saturday 6th March to collect a load of cars (and other associated gear) for the F1 in Bahrain.

The flight is scheduled to arrive around 1530 hrs with a departure time of 1700 hrs (all approximate).

No idea which registration it will be.

And yet another Cargolux 747 coming into EMA on the 21st April to deliver a load of F1 equipment (presumably from Shanghai).

Estimated timings are as follows:-

ETA 14.20 hrs
ETD 15.50 hrs

All approximate.

[textarea]Cargo record at East Midlands Airport

East Midlands Airport has reported its best ever year for cargo in its 45 year history. In 2010, 306,977 tonnes of flown cargo was handled, up 19,203 tonnes on 2009, confirming the status of the airport as the UK's premier pure freight hub. The growth has continued into 2011. In February the airport handled 23,116 tonnes of flown cargo with over 1200 tonnes passing through the airport on a typical weekday night.

The airport has a UK market share of nearly 40% of pure freight carried in freighter aircraft, as distinct from bellyhold freight that travels beneath the cabin floor of large passenger aircraft from airports such as Heathrow. It is the main UK hub for express carriers DHL and UPS with daily connections to the USA (Cincinnati, New York and Philadelphia) and Middle / Far East (Bahrain, Shanghai and Seoul) as well as numerous destinations in the UK, Ireland and Europe. The airport is also an important 'spoke' for TNT with nightly flights to and from Belfast and their main European hub in Liege.

East Midlands Airport is also the UK's busiest airport for flown mail on dedicated aircraft, handling over 2 million 1st class items a night. It is also the UK's busiest airport for ad-hoc charters with over 200 flights handled a year from small Cessna's to the giant Antonov AN-124 and 225.

Bill Blanchard, Airport Cargo manager, said: ‘East Midlands is a key part of the glue that links together global industry. As the UK comes out of recession, the air freight sector will play an increasingly important role in supporting UK businesses engaged in high value sectors of the economy. Already almost 40% of UK trade with non-EU countries by value is transported by air and East Midlands Airport's prime location, its expertise and enviable reputation will continue to give it a competitive advantage.’

No Doubt this will have an effect on EMA.

UK government ban on UPS air cargo screening
The government says it has barred parcel company UPS from screening air cargo at some facilities in the UK because of security problems.

The Department for Transport (DfT) has not revealed any specific security issues and said the ban would remain until the carrier "has satisfied current security requirements".

UPS said it was "working to address the problems" identified by the DfT.

A bomb was found last October on a UPS cargo plane at East Midlands airport.

The explosives were discovered after a tip-off and were not picked up by initial screening.

Investigators at East Midlands carried out a re-examination as a precaution and the bomb was found hidden in a printer cartridge posted in the Yemeni capital, Sanaa. The flight had been bound for the US.

A similar bomb was also found around the same time, on a FedEx plane in Dubai.

Does anyone have any info about when is the next inbound of Antonov an-124 due at EMA ? I would appreciate any info on that :s_thumbsup

Apologies if this has been posted before.

Over the next two years, DHL’s planned investment of US$132 million (€100 million) will increase the dedicated capacity of its Asia Air Network by deploying eight freighter aircraft between Shanghai and North Asia, Europe and the US. The planned flights will be operated by partner and equity-held airlines: Polar Air, Aerologic, and DHL Air UK. There will be a variety of other providers as well.

Building on existing direct connections between the DHL Express North Asia Hub in Shanghai to Hong Kong, Osaka, Tokyo, and DHL’s global hubs in Leipzig and Cincinnati, the planned investments in the next two years will enhance capacity on these routes and also include new connections between Shanghai to East Midlands, UK.

Antonov visitin EMA again, was approaching to landing today at 8:22 am. Awesome view when you queuing up on J24 to work :good:

Alright lads (and ladies if we have some on board :rose: ), I need to source your knowledge one more time. I am working very close to the airport (Sutton Bonington) and can see most planes on approach from the office window. I must say that there are frequently flights of large 4 rotor engines military machine and some DHL cargo during day time (9-12 am). Is there any info about these ? or any idea how to get even few minutes warning before they arrive to allow me to grab a camera and get outside ? I'd appreciate any help either here or on private message. Many thanks!

Beste Regards,
Rad

49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.
