Looks like a further nail in the coffin with E190's, bar G-CLSN going to NWI for storage. SN due to position to HUY tomorrow. Certainly some very strange goings on

Well if they've got no work for them not a lot they can do.

Fully get that @Jerry but it is still a reflection of the mess they are clearly in. It's going to cost them a fortune in storage fees and redundancy of crew, or paying crew to do nothing

Sadly could even mean the end for them. Something no doubt some will celebrate.

Something no doubt some will celebrate.

why is it folks who have been skeptical about Eastern are painted as celebrating their demise? it seems any criticism of an airline or airport on here is often spun as "well you are just celebrating their downfall and happy to see people losing their jobs", as if ignoring the facts will create a parallel universe where commercial realities somehow won't apply anymore.

i think eastern are a complete shambles and they haven't done much to help themselves. no company has a right to survive despite their continual commercial failure.

however, does that mean i would "celebrate" their demise, or be happy people are made redundant? no.

I would far rather Eastern had become a successful and reliable airline offering some competition to established domestic and shorter European routes. It feels like they've made some very strange business choices over the last 10 years, with some crazy route choices, and gradually faded away as far as I can see. Even this contract with KLM has fizzled out, although after a very dodgy start they seemed mainly to do OK, so perhaps they are unfortunate, but their route to Newquay seems to have been an unmitigated disaster.

I feel very sorry for the staff who I'm sure do their best for Eastern, and particularly those who only recently joined the company. I just hope they survive, but perhaps things have slid downhill too far. Time will tell.

Not sure how true it is, but the DFF is suggesting a temporary operator is required for the NQY-LGW PSO route. Not sure what this says about T3 but just wondered if Sean M on Twitter, or perhaps @Starflyer have anything to say on the subject as they are both usually very reliable sources of information. It has also been suggested on the DFF that we keep an eye on 2 of the (ex) T3 ATRs. Now I just wonder where they may be heading...........

This morning's situation is unfortunately looking bleaker. The last E-jet in service has now gone to Saarbrucken and the J41s appear to have already returned to, or are returning to, HUY

All T3's flights today in and out of ABZ are now showing as cancelled on the airports website and to contact the airline.
It really does look like what we have possibly been expecting is now happening and if so I wish all potentially affected staff the very best and hope they find new jobs quickly should that become necessary

According to the DFF there are apparently suggestions RL wants to buy back the J41s from the Administrators and return to the air PDQ. Not sure under what name that would be. And as has already been quoted he isn't referred to as Tricky Dicky for nothing.
Also been suggested, whether fairly or not, that things were run through most of the month of October and stopped just before pay day!

Well, if it ain't over till Charlie Alpha Alpha says it's over:
... it's over

Big shame - it's only a month or two since I was looking at the Wikipedia entry, which details how they basically came from nothing (or very little) to be a major player in regional flights in the UK. All that hard work over the decades ...

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
