EGYPTAIR is launching a brand-new four-times-a-week route between Birmingham Airport (BHX) and Cairo International Airport (CAI)

Midlands’ culture seekers can explore the historic wonders of Cairo from this October as EGYPTAIR, one of the world’s most experienced airlines, announces it will operate out of Birmingham Airport (BHX) from Tuesday 27th October 2026.

Expanding BHX’s Egyptian network alongside Hurghada (HRG) and Sharm El-Sheikh (SSH), this new service will stand as the airport’s first and sole direct connection to Cairo.

EGYPTAIR will operate this year-round service four days a week, flying on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

This frequent schedule creates a highly versatile route for the region. It perfectly serves the Midlands' diverse market, from leisure to business passengers to those visiting friends and family.

Passengers will be among the first to travel in style onboard EGYPTAIR’s Boeing 737 Max 8, a brand-new addition to the airline’s fleet. This state-of-the-art aircraft features a quiet, spacious cabin, designed to enhance the flying experience and offer a more comfortable journey to the capital.

It’s also never been easier to head further afield, with seamless onward connections via Cairo to EGYPTAIR’s network across Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

Matt Hazelwood, Chief Commercial Officer of Birmingham Airport said:

“We are delighted to connect our passengers directly to a bucket-list destination like Cairo, a city that effortlessly blends thousands of years of incredible history with a contemporary culture, via our new partnership with EGYPTAIR. This route will strengthen our Egyptian offering, providing greater choice for our customers direct from Birmingham Airport.”

With a warm climate, Cairo provides a perfect year-round escape from the British weather. Visitors can enjoy mild, sunny winters averaging 20°C, perfect for exploring and warm, bustling summer evenings perfect for outdoor dining.

Tickets go on sale as of today with variety of booking options and fares.

Captain Mohamed Elian, EGYPTAIR AIRLINES said:

"Expanding our footprint in the UK by adding Birmingham to our route map reflects our commitment to a market that holds tremendous significance for EGYPTAIR with operating 4 weekly flights between the two cities onboard our newest B737MAX8. Cairo serves as a magnificent gateway, and with this new service, we are making it easier than ever for both business and leisure travellers to experience Egypt. Beyond the capital, our extensive domestic network offers optimized connectivity, allowing passengers to step off their flight from Birmingham and quickly find themselves relaxing on the Red Sea coast or exploring the timeless treasures of Upper Egypt."

Cairo, the massive, high-energy capital of Egypt, is a city built on layers of history. Visitors can get lost in the century-old alleys of the Khan el-Khalili bazaar, marvel at the Giza Pyramids, explore the Grand Egyptian Museum, or experience the city's legendary late-night coffeehouse culture along the Nile.
