Manchester certainly needs them to pull through even an airport of Manchester's size would be very quiet at certain parts of the day without them.

I wonder how much of Flybe's passenger numbers could be taken on by other operators with larger aircraft but less rotations, I suspect MAG are better placed than most to deal with the failure of an airline such as Flybe even though it would hit the airport hard.

Not a lot I would guess as business men want frequency incase meeting over runs etc and will not want to stay overnight

Okay so a little gremlin crept in last night.

Planned flights per day are as follows:

Monday - 96
Tuesday - 96
Wednesday - 96
Thursday - 96
Friday - 96
Saturday - 67 (CDG shows 4 outbound but only 3 inbound on the Flybe site, but Google flights show 3 outbound).
Sunday - 78
Total - 625
Show how badly Manchester will be affected by the loss of Flybe. How many movements does the airport see a day the loss of Flybe I assume has cut flights by around 15-20%.

Looks as if 3 routes have been taken already SOU Eastern, ABZ and EDI Loganair. I can see IOM, BFS/BHD, EXT and NQY all finding
operators as they all do well.

Flybe Routes:

Aberdeen -Taken on by Loganair
Amsterdam -served by Easyjet and KLM, it’s fine in reality
Belfast City -Belfast Aldergrove served by easy, could increase
Düsseldorf - served by a Eurowings, could increase
Edinburgh -taken onby Loganair
Exeter -unsure but likely to be replaced
Hannover - unsure
Isle of Man - unsure but told a new airline I saw coming
Jersey - served by Easyjet, could increase
Knock - unsure but likely to be replaced
Luxembourg - unsure, Luxair did apply for S20 slots so possible?
Lyon - served by Easyjet in winter, could increase
Newquay - unsure but likely will be replaced
Paris - served by Air France and Easyjet, in reality is fine but could be increased
Southampton - taken on by Eastern
Stuttgart - unsure

So, looks bad on appear, will be a loss of passengers and movements, but like times before, the airport will recover. The only 2 routes I have doubts over are Stuttgart and Hannover.

Stuttgart yes. Not sure they ever did Hannover though. And Ryanair have dropped several German routes - wasn't it because of extra taxes?

Yes indeed, new green taxes in Germany. I think Ryanair are also finishing hamburg this month.
We need Stuttgart more than hannover I would say.

Did any of our fellow forum contributors have any future bookings with Flybe?
I was booked on a BE & AF flights from Manchester to Toulouse in April via CDG. Does anyone know how this would be covered, as I booked with Air France via Skyscanner? I contacted Air France on Twitter but nothing back...

Yep. Flybe to Paris. Managed to buy Air France tickets for same days at roughly the same times, obviously for quite a bit more money. A 75 minute call to Barclaycard and the refund paperwork for Flybe is in the post.

Interesting chat with the guy at Barclaycard - they expect to finally have dealt with all the Thomas Cook claims by the end of March!

For you did you book with a credit card? That’s your recourse - ask your card provider for a section 75 refund. If it was debit card you may be able to talk to your card provider about a chargeback.

Thanks for the info @marni1971
I booked with a credit card, however, I won’t be claiming the full amount back as it’s only the first leg of my journey that was with Flybe?
Is it possible to still take the second leg and get a partial refund or not? It’s Air France from CDG to TLS. I still intend to fly on this day and take my AF flight...if possible of course.
Although I’m limited on options I think now in getting to CDG in the first place. I have a meeting I need to attend the next day (14th April) so need to travel on that bank holiday Monday...wish me luck.

If booked as BHX to TLS the flight would be considered 1 itinerary so I don't think you could claim back the BHX-CDG leg.

I'm on a bus at the moment but flybe have announced they will, initially, be serving Manchester from Belfast.

More to follow.

Disappointing, but probably inevitable. EasyJet are around four daily on BFS-MAN, and Ryanair has also announced a twice daily return to that route (as well as existing services to nearby LDY). Meanwhile, Emerald (Aer Lingus Regional) operates upto four daily flights on BHD-MAN as well. Something had to give, and FlyBe always looked the most likely faller.

However, my thanks to Sean M for the heads-up on this. It spurred me into action. I've booked a FlyBe MAN-BHD sector for before the service is pulled, and it is currently showing as operated by the Marathon Airlines E175 SX-ASK (so I hope that doesn't change). Homeward will be with EasyJet from BFS.

Meanwhile, FlyBe have been reported to be showing interest in Southampton to Manchester this Winter. A highly erratic, eyewateringly high-priced Eastern Jetstream 41 service which is subject to frequent cancellation represents far less formidable competition than the players on the Northern Ireland routes. Hopefully they can enjoy greater success on this route. Though MAG does need to do it's bit by ensuring that domestic passengers don't get mired in mega-queues and unworkable 'turn up three hours before' advice which is kryptonite to a domestic route like this.

Hi, I was born and lived in B36 for a long time - Lindale Avenue, just around the corner from Hodge Hill Comp.
I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?

49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.
