They are leasing 4 A350-1000 and ordering 8 from Airbus. Based initially at LHR then LGW. From the Airbus PR piece:

bit of blurb from the Airbus PR piece:

The aircraft will be deployed initially at London Heathrow to strengthen the trans-Atlantic network on existing business routes, and subsequently at Gatwick airport on leisure routes to the Caribbean, where Virgin Atlantic will provide three classes of customer service in the A350s distinctive Airbus ‘Airspace’ cabin with roomy overhead bins and the latest concepts for ambience, comfort, service and design.

“This agreement allows Virgin Atlantic to set the standard on its network by being amongst the first airlines into service with the A350-1000, with an Airspace by Airbus cabin, offering superior comfort including industry leading 18" wide seats in‎ economy,” said Fabrice Brégier, Airbus President and Chief Executive Officer. “These modern, efficient A350s will complement Virgin Atlantic’s existing fleet of 10 A330-300s and offer Virgin Atlantic crews the advantage of familiarity with Airbus operating procedures around the network”

The 380 is not my favourite aircraft - I've travelled on them about a dozen times - but I recognise their importance to the UK aircraft building/design industry so their continued production must be seen as good news.

Official announcement from Airbus A380 manufacture to end.
Delivery of aircraft to end in 2021 more details to be announced later today.

14 more A380s for EK with the balance of that order now in the form of A330-900NEOS and A350-900s

No suprise there..The A380 has been on `Death Row` for a long time. It wasn`t the money spinner Airbus reckoned it would be. If it had`been been for Emirates it would have gone long ago

Without Emirates being around they would have secured more orders with more airlines ordering 15 to 20 of them

i just wonder with the new RR engine in service date of 2025 and with it also a possiblilty for the A380 whether Airbus may spend a little time and have a small dedicated team working on ways to lighten the A380, particularly in respect of the wings which are over engineered for the basic A380 but on the mark for a stretch.

Sad news for such a gracious aircraft.

Dissapointing to say the least for the arports around the world that have spent millions making their airfields accessible to the A380.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
