Many thanks for that, Severn.

I'm surprised about Marrakech. We know it only appeared in this summer's booking engine very late on with a reduction in rotations most summer months compared with summer 2016. Whether it's becoming less popular because perhaps some travellers link Morocco in some way with Tunisia (both in North Africa, both formerly French ruled, both religion is Islam) I don't know.

Annual passenger loads have been remarkably consistent:

2010 30,000 Ryanair
2011 27,000 Ryanair who then gave it up
2012 not flown
2013 1,400 easyJet commenced in December
2014 30,000 easyJet
2015 31,000 easyJet
2016 32,000 easyJet

EasyJet's schedules are becoming a bit like Ryanair's. Lots of swapping and changing throughout. Look at the summer schedules it took ages for marrakech to be realeased. I even asked on social media if it been dropped. They said yes then released it a few weeks later and don't forget the silly situation of no ams service on weds only to be rectified later. I suspect we see some changes to this over time. I can't imagine marrakech be dropped entirely to be honest. It seems particularly popular with friends and colleagues at the Moment. Be nice to see a few new winter routes tho. Me thinking ponta Delgada , la Palma and tel above be nice. - I can dream

I agree Marko. This seems to be becoming a pattern, with easyJet, Ryanair and WOW the chief offenders at present, although in fairness Ryanair is nowhere near as bad as it was a few years ago when several versions of its BRS timetable would be released before the final one, with routes chopped, added, altered in time and sometimes day. Helvetic kept everyone on the hop towards the end of its tenure at BRS with its final season only released less than a month before it commenced.

Marrakech was particularly surprising because I imagine some people who were looking at RAK for a holiday this summer had booked with someone else by the time easyJet belatedly put RAK back into the BRS booking engine.

Lots of coverage on local media today re 60th anniversary of the opening of the airport at Lulsgate. Ali Gayward easyJet's country chief was at the airport and said that she hoped to be announcing some new routes from BRS in the next few weeks. She also said that one of the easyJet aircraft is to be named Spirit of Bristol.

Be interesting to see what new routes they'll introduce. Could Sharm el Sheikh come back? Could they look at city routes like Munich or Milan? Or just more holiday/leisure routes?

Wonder if they will consider basing some of those new A321neo's at BRS? Might be a way for them to increase the amount of seats offered on some routes while not having to increase frequencies ie the Canaries and Greek routes.

I hope I have done the link correctly. Interesting article today about easyJet's plans for Bristol in particular the plan to increase frequencies on existing routes and develop new routes on a 80%/20% basis on growth.

So for every new route there will be increased frequencies on four existing ones. Looking from the outside it certainly appears that some routes could stand more flights, although of course full aircraft don't always equate to sufficiently profitable routes.

I thought I read that the 321s will be used mainly at slot-restricted airports. I don't think that BRS is slot-restricted. It's more that its peaks are very busy (ie early morning departures and returning aircraft at the end of the day) whereas the troughs still have plenty of room. I presume that easyJet is still in the process of increasing the seating capacity of its 320s from 180 to 186.

The use of larger aircraft has certainly helped BRS expand its passenger numbers within a relatively small airfield site. A recent magazine articles showed that in 1997 1.614 million passengers were handled by 59,000 aircraft movements; in 2007 it was 5.926 million from 76,000 movements; in 2015 it was 6.786 million from 68,000 movements.

I wonder where that report got its Montenegro and Bulgarian rumours from? I was in Montenegro a couple of weeks ago and it was beautiful, and very inexpensive. I flew the BRS to DBV route but Montenegro is becoming very popular so I'm sure a Tivat or Podgorica route would intrigue many.

It's a shame they couldn't have made some new route announcements at the same time as this article....

Similar article in the post. Very complimentary on Bristol and it's importance to easyJet. Although I wasn't aware of 28 flights per week to Barcelona though !
It's airline-speak. 14 weekly rotations equals 28 flights (sectors). Only half are to BCN of course; the others are to BRS from BCN.

It's a shame they couldn't have made some new route announcements at the same time as this article....

It would have been nice if some new routes had accompanied the 60th birthday celebrations. I suppose easyJet feel that the naming of one of their aircraft Spirit of Bristol marks the occasion, and their representative did say she hoped to announce some new routes in the coming weeks.

Local paper going to town this evening over easyJet cancellations and delays today.

According to BRS website boards EZY6153 to GVA at 0725 was cancelled. Presumably so was the return although it's not even shown on the BRS website arrivals page.

EZY407 to GLA at 2000 was also cancelled. Presumably so was the return although it too is not shown on the BRS website arrivals page.

The GLA is the flight that the local rag is highlighting plus lengthy delays to Barcelona, Newcastle and Palma. BCN, NCL and PMI have now taken off a couple of hours late.

Looking at tomorrow the first three of four GLA northbound and the first three of four southbound flights are sold out with the first available to GLA at 2000 tomorrow and from GLA at 2145 tomorrow. The first two of five northbound EDI and the first of five southbound EDI are also sold out so not much to console those passengers whose BRS-GLA-BRS flights were cancelled this evening.

Further flights with lengthy delays this evening but not mentioned by the local rag are:

EZY6167 to Amsterdam at 1625, departed 1855
EZY6157 to Geneva at 1805, departed 2002
EZY429 to Edinburgh at 1915, departed 2021

A number of easyJet flights earlier in the day suffered delays which knocked on to some of this evening's flights. Some other easyJet flights this evening had 30-40 minute delays.

Bad day overall for easyJet out of BRS.

What i find interesting is that G-EZOA arrived from Paris at 20:21 - yet it didn't depart BRS operating the PMI flight till 22:21 (could of left by 21:21). Crew change due to crew hours and EASA flight time limitations?

Wonder what the route course of this is e.g. Slot/flow control at multiple airports EZY operate into or tech aircraft/crew hours etc.

Just goes to show you; every carrier despite the reputation they all have have their bad days. I guess it's the service recovery that matters.

Isle of Man

easyJet is operating additional flights this year on Thursday 1 and 8 June and on Saturday 3 and 10 of June, as well as their regular Friday and Sunday flights, in connection with the TT races. I can't remember if they did this last year.

No I cant remember if extra flights last year. The major change this year to last year is no flights from Gloucester to the IOM. Perhaps with that in their minds easy must be sure the extra rotations will be good load factors.

ezy 9036 FROM MADRID today at 15:58 had only 34 passengers in it. is that just a positioning flight as such a low number for a Madrid flight today for UEFA.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
