It was a bit late getting back to BRS, wasn't it Jerry?

I note that Jethros Fleet Listings no longer lists the easyJet aircraft with Austrian registrations. I understand why because his site is for UK and Ireland air fleets but it makes trying to establish details of the entire easyJet fleet very difficult.

Yes we had about a 30 minute daily. The aircraft arrived 15 minutes early but a passenger fell ill so they had a delay while dealing with that situation. The flight was then further delayed because Menzies the handlers at EDI refused to use steps fore and aft and only used steps at the front door of the aircraft and according to the Captain they claimed using rear steps in the wind was a health and safety issue and by his voice on the intercomm he wasn't impressed with their reasoning. There was then a further delay as the flight was full there wasn't enough room for all the hand luggage so the crew had to get some of that put in the hold and the Captain questioned why this wasn't done at the gate. He called the whole ground handling of the flight a shambles!
The rest of the flight was pretty good, the crew were friendly and attentive and one even asked if i was doing a trip report.
Seats weren't that comfortable but it was only a short flight. Easyjet seem a good airline and i would fly with them again if i need to. When we landed i was surprised by how quiet BRS was and we taxiied all the way past the fuel farm and parked on a stand around the corner from there. I did find BRS's arrivals was a bit of a walk and a bit convaluted compared to Edinburgh in which you just end up in the main concourse. All in all it was a good flight though it took a while to get home becasue of the closure of the second severn crossing.

I was out for most of yesterday but by chance I switched on FR 24 just as your delayed EDI was landing. You were the first of five or six aircraft (mainly easyJet - no surprise there) in the landing queue. BRS is very much a feast and famine because most of its flights are operated by based aircraft that tend to do mainly two or three, occasionally four, rotations in the day.

The period of, say, 7-9 in the evening is one of the quiet periods when many of the aircraft are away. I've been at the airport on a Friday lunchtime when as many as 18 aircraft have been parked awaiting their next departure. An hour later and there can be only three or four on the apron.

If you'd landed at the far end of the western walkway that's a 400-metre walk to Immigration. There are no travelators which can be a trial for some people. I like the chance of a brisk stroll before or after a couple of hours on an aircraft but not everyone likes walking, or is able to do so.

I've flown with easyJet well over a hundred times and I haven't really had any cause for serious complaint. They are a basic, reliable for the most part, airline that brings a wealth of destinations to smaller airports that would never have been seriously considered by anyone 25 years ago.

The Edinburgh route is probably their most popular BRS route in terms of passenger numbers. You probably noticed there were two further EDI-BRS flights yesterday evening after yours and the next one had been showing 'sold 'out' for two or three days.

A quick look at August 2019 shows an extra weekly departure to GLA, BFS, PMI, SXF, BOD, SVQ as well as a 2x weekly LCA which starts in Oct 18. This is an increase of 8x departures per week on Summer 2018.
Interesting increases are GLA and BFS which both will now have 4x daily departures on a Monday (The BFS route will see a A320 departing BRS at 07:00 and an A319 departing at 08:00!)
PMI - There will 18x departures per week (3x daily on Mon, Tues, Fri and Sun)
SXF - now 6x weekly, Mo-Fr and Su
BOD - now 6x weekly, Tu-Su

Looks like 16x based aircraft on the Monday morning I took a look at - 7x A319s and 9x A320s (an increase of 1x A319 on Summer 18).
First wave A319 departures to AGP, BFS, CTA, FAO, NCL, PSA & SPU
First wave A320 departures to AMS, ATH, BFS, EDI, FNC, GLA, PFO, PMI & RMU (the new airport replacing MJV).

I have had a look at Friday and Saturdays and they also require 16 based aircraft. Interesting to note the changes to the planned number of based 319s/320s compared to a few weeks ago. Looking positive now

With aircrafts transferred to Easy jet Europe,did any of the pilots etc transfer over as well,as in my mind Easy jet Europe is a off shoot of Easy jet in the UK.There must be a difference of terms and conditions with it being 2 countries.

All pilots remain the under the same employment, and can operate either G or OE reg aircraft consecutively.

Usually the likes of EDI and GLA and BFS are if anything reduced a bit in peak summer (mid-July/August) as they are heavily used by business travellers who aren't so numerous at that time of the year.

I seem to remember that at one time easyJet's programme showed a need for 16 based aircraft for a few weeks in August 2018. The programme was then amended so that 15 sufficed.

I hope this game is not repeated for 2019.

Thank you Jerry for yet another first-class video report of your trips. Did you engage the junior commentator heard in the background?

I've used the same route many times and it brought back some memories not least how often the weather, like yours, is overcast when leaving EDI.

One of the last trips coincided with very thick fog at BRS, not unknown there of course, and we executed a Cat3b landing with the ground only coming into view between the A38 and the airport boundary.

With December fast approaching, easyJet has added a number of extra frequencies over the Christmas and New Year period. December 2018 will see 96 more departures than December 2017 and 7 new Winter routes (NCE, NAP, CTA, SVQ, LCA, SOF, OSD).
There have also been peak-December increases on VIE, PFO, GIB, TFS, KRK, LIS, PRG, SXF, MAD, AMS, BCN, NCL, GVA, BFS, GLA and EDI.
MAD and SXF go 2x daily on some days (a first for these routes).

Looking at the whole of 2018 vs 2017, the BRS-NCL route has seen the largest increase in departures. The route in 2018 saw 101 more departures than in 2017.
VCE, PRG, AMS & PMI saw an increase of over 50 departures each over the year followed closely by AGP, PSA, CPH, TFS & SXF.
Apart from losing the RAK route, NTE was the only route that saw a significant drop in departures in 2018 due to only operating over peak-Summer.

All in all, there will have been 68 routes operated over 2018, with nearly 16,000 departures (an increase of close to 1,100 over 2017!). Looking forward to even more in 2019.

An Easyjet flight diverted into Cardiff earlier and several diverted to Birmingham as well. If the passengers were disembarked at say CWL does Easyjet provide them with busses to get back to BRS or do they have to make their own way back?
