The school holidays start this weekend so it's peak season really hope BHX are prepared because I get the impression that we are pretty stretched at present, fingers crossed but I've got my doubts.

Also the Orlando reply is beyond pathetic my dog could give a better answer.

I have just complained on another BHX social media webiste. This just isnt good enough :rage:

Well after being asked on Twitter if there are flights from BHX to Orlando this was the reply from the airports official account!

i'm afraid you can't fly direct to Orlando from BHX

As if things aren't difficult enough as it is!

You couldn't make it up :drowning:
Didn't anyone give the official BHX tweeter (if that's the correct term - I don't do social media sites) some stick for coming out with that?

I'm not exactly trying to defend the person from BHX Twitter's account, but Orlando Sanford airport technically serves Sanford and not Orlando. If that's how it appears on BHX's list of destinations (i.e. "Sanford" and not "Orlando"), it could be very easy for a person to look at a list of destinations and see Orlando wasn't served.

Either way, anyone that represents BHX on a public level should know that information regardless.

Am I missing something Aceshigh? Not even sure of the aviation connection, never mind why BHX enthusiasts would have a need to be in 'full throttle' over it?

Not having a pop, genuinely don't understand what the issue is in relation to BHX?

Brum X:
I am a little annoyed at BHX social media today. A member of the public asked BHX if you could fly direct from BHX to Orlando. BHX social media replied "i'm afraid you can't fly direct to Orlando from BHX

You couldn't make it up.

Can i just remind all at BHX that Thomson fly direct from Birmingham to Orlando Sanford. If BHX doesnt even know where you can fly direct, how on earth are passengers supposed to know.

BHX Reply: Sorry Alan, my mistake!

Brum X:Thats ok, but please we have just lost United airlines becouse lots of people do not know you can fly direct from BHX to New York.

I feel better now :)

I had my own little dog too BrumX and sent an email to both Will Pearson and Tom Screen. See below:

In their defence, Tom was fast to acknowledge and reply.

A good day for people power!!

Biggest unserved market!

How depressing! Firstly that nobody as yet has been interested and secondly, that Thomson haven't been persuaded to go beyond once weekly :(

Well my comment was referenced with the horrendous losses made at Mitchell and Butler. Not exactly a glowing CV. especially when the words disastrous , judgement and strategy appear in a business headline!

And as New Chairman he will be part of the exec' committee appointing the new CEO to replace the best guy you have had in years !

Maybe he appointed PK as well in which case
I accept the criticism but the article does indicate a new appointment and whilst he is "only chairman" was there nobody else ?

Apart from that "no , i guess there is no problem ".

No offence to them, but Glasgow Airport (smaller than BHX) has 3x Virgin 744 and 3x TCX A332 per week, plus flights with Thomson to Sanford. That amounts to more than 4500 seats per week compared to 600 from BHX.

The problem seems to be that the airlines that would fly BHX to Orlando, currently have bigger operations to Orlando from Manchester and/or Gatwick. For some reason, they clearly think that either Midlanders are happy to travel to Manchester/Gatwick, or that if they started flying BHX-Orlando, it would negatively impact upon their flights from Manchester/Gatwick.

I think Birmingham's best chance for an improvement of service to Orlando lies with either the airline starting these 3 routes to N.America, or when (if) either Jet2 or Monarch venture into long haul.

This situation with Orlando is also applicable to Las Vegas.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
