Jet 2, Brexit or Alitalia? Any other reasons?

I'm not sure what Alitalia has to do in any of this? If anything the state of Alitalia could be strengthening their position at FCO? Either way it's good too see ORY continue as it's a really good route for BHX to have.

A very good point. It's easily overlooked how many airlines p**s in the same pot.If Vueling have shown IAG there is
potential at BHX then the winding down of there ops and an increase of BACF (or even BA) ops with their much bigger
brand awareness would make sense.

BACF could make much more sense and would more than hold their own against Monarch, Jet2, Thomas Cook, Thomson etc, better timings would help though.

With Vueling being pretty much unknown it was always going to be tough when up against household names such as Monarch and Ryanair but when people can't even pronounce the name things get even harder. I've heard vwey-ling, vyou-ling and vu-ling, even the radio ad had to spell out the name of the website. I think it's actually pronounced bwe-lin, which is great if you're Catalonian but not so great for a pan European airline.

I guess it now depends upon how serious IAG are about regional UK, if they want to establish some market share then BACF could be the perfect fit.

If Alitalia folds then there might be better opportunities for them in Italy than the UK.

Well I'm praying that this is just a blip in so far that these flights have not been cut and that something bigger is going on ...but who knows. It would be a shame to loose them but alas still good to see them not go completely!

In such a fast changing industry and with the UK sector buoyant overseas airlines are trying this and that but it may just not work. They are wiser to focus on their core market and let someone else take over the reins in the UK. Whilst the UK is hot at the moment, it does not always result in good margins, particularly at fast growing airports where price competition takes it toll. Always sad to see cuts, if that is the case, but they may return when things have settled.

Everyone wants to be the next Ryanair.

Just checked Vueling website and BCN appears to be bookable upto May 2018 but i cant see anything else after March 2018 ?

Looks like Vueling has had a bad time in the UK regions. Looks like it's just BCN from BHX/MAN/EDI going forward, shame to see what was actually quite an extensive network pared right back.

Very disappointed.
Going with an A321 from the off to ORY was always a gamble, particularly with the apparent AF/Flybe monolopy to Paris.I had high hopes that this would be a good route from BHX.
I thought the sun routes were doing ok,so that is also disappointing.
Maybe another carrier will increase their offering to those routes to pick up any slack.
Relieved that BCN has survived though, interesting to see what the other airlines flying to BCN do now.

Problem for Vueling is that they only have A321s based at Orly. So they couldn't have used anything smaller.

This posted on my group - https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/bhxnews

Yesterday I flew on the Vueling A321 and according to the Stewardess it had 221 passengers on it. I did not see an empty seat on it although one of my mates reckoned there was a complete row of 3 empty seats in front of him. They may have been no shows though. I will judge my return flight on Wednesday but I cannot see Vueling discontinuing this flight based on that load (if typical). Remember the French are all on holiday as well but to be fair, a lot of the pax were families catching onward flights complete with screaming kids. Also no catering offered with no reason given. Just an apology announcement (3 times in Spanish, English and French)

I hope they continue with Paris ORY, it is a good route to have and some competition for Flybe/Air France at CDG.

My first posting having recently joined the forum. I used the Orly flight this weekend for a spotting weekend. Flew out on Friday and back on Sunday. The flight was packed both ways. As others have said, it will be a real disappointment if this flight is discontinued. Orly has not changed too much since my last visit in 1997, but there is a lot of building work going on and it looks like an extension to Orly Ouest is almost complete which will double the size of that terminal. Lots of road works going on as well. I would have thought that Vueling would be looking to expand rather than contract. And as usual for me, in my experience, BHX was great, straight through security and immigration.

Hello Otisblue, I would have thought Orly would be a good bet for expansion and it's good to hear of high load factors trouble is Vueling seem pretty hard to predict having apparently been forced off their sun routes still fingers crossed.

As a recent contributer to this forum myself welcome they are a friendly bunch although can get in a bit of tissy with our pals at MAN lol

If the flight is full both ways but Vueling drop it then it could be an opportunity for Monarch. They seem to be moving into City break territory and they are known at BHX so I can't see them struggling to fill an A321 to ORY.

Thanks Rollo. This does seem a very friendly and informative forum.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
