Oh Mr Finkle you are such a tease (y)

There are behind the scenes 'issues' to be addressed, hopefully a solution will be found soon and we can have some more announcements.

Going off topic slightly, what has happened to BrumX? He'd have been all over a route announcement like this!

Brum X is 'having a break' from here, he has his reasons and I respect them. He knows that his contribution is missed, hopefully he will decide to return in the future :)

...an update of the Vueling Timetable at BHX in May 2017... that equates to 21 flights a week (BCN x7, ORY x6, AGP x3, ALC x3, TFS x2), 15x A320 and 6x A321 and a total of 8,040 seats a week. That's a weekly increase in summer peak from 10 flights and 3,600 seats a week to 21 flights and 8,040 seats a week, up 123%... and is there more to come??? Good to see an airline that started with 2x weekly flights to BCN 2 years ago grow so much at BHX. Long may they continue.

Official Airport Press Release....

Vueling, the Spanish airline member of the International Airlines Group (IAG) has announced a brand new route between Birmingham and Paris-Orly, which will launch in March 2017.
Flights are on sale now for services beginning on March 26th, operating initially four times weekly and increasing to six times weekly in June 2017. Flights will be operated by an Airbus A321 aircraft with capacity for 220 passengers.

W17/18 is loaded, so far up until Jan.

ALC - 2x weekly (Tue and Sat)
BCN - 2x weekly (Mon and Fri)
AGP - 2x weekly (Tue and Sat)
ORY - 3x weekly (Mon, Fri and Sun)
TFS - 2x weekly (Tue and Fri)

To put the above into context we have a net gain of 2x weekly A321's over this winter.

Malaga, Tenerife and Barcelona remain the same as this winter. Alicante drops from 3x weekly to 2x weekly but this is offset by the first winter season of Paris.

Paris Orly is a great route for BHX, I hope it proves popular with West Midlands travellers.

Well even with W17/18 only showing 2x more weekly flights than W16/17, I still make that an increase weekly seat capacity from 3,240 seats per week to 4,260 seat per week. That a pretty sizable increase of 31.5% in W17/18, and there is still plenty of time for new routes/frequencies to be announced!!!!

With their Summer 2017 schedule more than doubling the size of their operation from BHX (+123% in capacity) and their Winter 2017/18 already showing a 31% increase, it's great to see an airline just continue to grow out of BHX. a rough back of the fag packet calculation suggested that throughout 2017, they will provide circa 300,000 seats, or circa 250,000 pax into BHX if they can keep their LF around the 80% mark, though their current ALC stats don't help!

Considering where we have come from, Vueling has really invested into BHX. Hope is continues into the future....

2015
Summer = 2x weekly flights (1x Route = BCN)
Winter = 2x weekly flights (1x Route = BCN)

2016
Summer = 10x weekly flights (3x Routes = BCN, AGP, ALC)
Winter = 9x weekly flights (4x Routes = BCN, AGP, ALC, TFS)

2017
Summer = 21x weekly flights (5x Routes = BCN, AGP, ALC, TFS, ORY)
Winter = 11x weekly flights (5x Routes = BCN, AGP, ALC, TFS, ORY)

not bad when you think initial rumours suggested VYs interest in BHX did not extend beyond BCN!!!!

Three Vueling arrivals tomorrow including the inaugural Orly service :)

06:35 VY1270 Malaga (AGP) Vueling 320
11:35 VY9352 Paris (ORY) Vueling 321
11:50 VY8752 Barcelona (BCN) Vueling 320
Of course those timings have now all jumped forward by an hour as FR24 adjusts to BST :)

Well done Vueling, they have a decent little operation here now!

Tenerife looks to be gone for winter, yesterday Oct and Nov were not bookable and today there is nothing past Sept except one date in Dec. Alicante and Malaga also disappear.

Barcelona continues 2x weekly with a break in Jan and Orly is still 3x weekly, for now.

Jet2 casualty number two?

They've cut some routes at MAN as well and cut frequencies at CWL. I'm wondering if they are cutting back on their UK operations to concentrate on their core market of Spain, France and Italy. Especially Italy with Alitalia in trouble they may decide to focus more attentions on Italy rather than the UK.

I'd possibly add a revitalised Monarch to that list. They have expanded over the last couple of years and currently have a very strong ad campaign with both posters and radio adverts. Compare that to the radio ads for Vueling and they actually had to spell the name of the airline!

Time to keep one eye on BACF. If IAG really are taking the 'regions' seriously and their summer flights perform well maybe there is hope for a little more next year.

A very good point. It's easily overlooked how many airlines p**s in the same pot.If Vueling have shown IAG there is
potential at BHX then the winding down of there ops and an increase of BACF (or even BA) ops with their much bigger
brand awareness would make sense.

Vueling is an interesting one I think from now from a general U.K consensus, Jerry was correct in when he said Vuelings winter routes have been cut back from 3 to 2 weekly down at CWL and seemingly MAN and EDI haven't escaped the cuts either, LPL, LBA, NCL to BCN and even SOU from a few summers ago have all gone too, For an airine that was seemingly pushing into the U.K market quite rapidly there seems to be a major change of strategy.

The fact that last summer was a complete disaster I think has put a lot of people from traveling with them, it was a common theme to see flights delayed for over 6 hours or to arrive for a morning flight and still see a VY flight that was meant to depart the previous evening, Lack of brand awareness in a sense put them a few steps behind airlines that operated the likes of BHX to TFS for example where the competition is very high on the routes operated from a number of core airlines , I'd agree with Ray mind, A strong presence from a rejuvenated Monarch and a big Jet2 presence will help keep BHX on the front foot !

I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
