Also man is a main base for tui. They will use main bases before regional bases as any tech issues or crew issues can be sorted out with not too much delay or problems.

MAN was always the outbound en-route fuel stop with the TOM Boeing 767s to Cancun from BRS. This occurred on every outbound flight to CUN and lasted for a number of years before TOM axed the route after the summer 2013 season with the pubic explanation that it was due to a change in aircraft type. I took this to mean that the former First Choice B767s with fewer seats than the original Thomsons were being phased out the following year which did happen.

When Thomson and First Choice amalgamated, the CWL summer Caribbean routes flown by TOM were dropped but the First Choice routes from BRS in the amalgamated company remained. Some said at the time that this was because of the influence of former First Choice executives who apparently had been given a leading role in the new company.

I have no idea whether this suggestion had any grains of truth. It would seem an odd commercial decision if CWL was the better bet.

Given the heavy landing of a TOM (former First Choice) B767 in 2010 that caused serious damage to the aircraft leading to an AAIB investigation whose findings inter alia discovered a disproportionate number of B767 heavy landings on runway 09, the runway on which this heavy landing occurred, that might have been thought another reason why TOM would have looked seriously at BRS.

They probably did but continued to operate the summer Caribbean/Florida routes for the following three summers with, so far as I'm aware, no further landing problems.

Given the occasional outbound fuel stop to CUN with the 787 and the history of heavy landings with wide-bodied aircraft there must be a sound commercial reason for continuing to operate them from BRS. Prior to First Choice beginning its BRS summer Caribbean/Florida routes in the early years of this century most of this type of service operated from CWL. BRS's services were sporadic in those days.

Do we know if the TUI flights to Orlando and cancun are operating as normal due to the bad weather out that way.

I think I herd that Orlando Int was closing at some point so with Stanford only just up the road prob much the same

Large police presence at Bristol Airport as three men arrested and flight diverted

http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/large-police-presence-bristol-airport-180183

A TUI B 757-operated Glasgow to Alicante flight was diverted to BRS late this morning because of three disruptive passengers. Three men were arrested on suspicion of using threatening, abusive or insulting words towards crew while on an aircraft.

The above link contains a local press report with a number of pictures of the incident.

These two men have now been dealt with by the court. One was given an eight-month prison sentence and the other six months imprisonment suspended. Reading the below linked press report of the case their behaviour was disgusting. Eight months for the one and six months suspended for the other seems pretty light to me.

I hope that TUI pursues them for the £69,000 that the diversion cost the airline. These are the sort of people who won't have much money though so it would probably be pretty pointless although they might recover some of the costs.

Sandford is coming a day early due to the weather. Holiday cut short for customers by one day. Dont think they will mind. Landing 03:45 tomorrow morning Instead of 06:40 on Monday morning.

The outbound Sandford flight is looking like it will operate on Tuesday at 1000 instead of Sunday.

It looks like TOM have positioned TUIC. From PUJ to SFB.

Sanford showing a sched arrival of 0345 tomorrow morning and Cancun 0740. It looks unlikely then that two 787s will be on the ground at BRS at the same time.

Never know. They are both coming from disaster hit countries so one couldbe delayed enough for the two to be parked sde by side. Not at work tomorrow for the photo.

Tui starting to launch winter 2018/19. It appears Boa Vista will be served alongside sal. No details available yet

Looking at the booking menus the schedule seems to be taking shape:

Monday - SSH & LPA
Tuesday - TFS & RAK
Wednesday - SAL & Iceland (KEF)
Thursday - ACE
Friday - TFS & Boa Vista
Saturday - FUE (And likely Ski flights)
Sunday - Iceland & AGP

Interesting to see Iceland, unless they will be using another carrier (EZY?). Boa Vista and Marrakesh should be popular. None of these are bookable, but the available days are shown.

Jamaica showing 2nd Apr 2019 (Poss new weekly route?)
SFB starts 22nd March (Fri)
CUN starts 23rd March (Sat)
Dom Rep (PUJ or poss LRM) starts 25th Apr (Thu)

Also looks like a few one offs to Jamaica and Barbados too

Wound reckon they likely are cruise flights so would only be available via the cruise lines (P&O orThomson?) not sure if that's the case though.

They aren't cruise flights. P&O are only offering Cardiff as a departure point from the South West for cruises in the winter of 2018/19 (details posted on the Cardiff forum) and Thomson aren't offering any cruises either. They are holiday package flights. Same as they are offering at CWL (see CWL thread) just less offered which i find ironic as it's usually the other way round with CWL and BRS!

easyJet is flying to Keflavik this winter (from 8 October) on Thurs and Sun, and on Tues, Thurs and Sun from the beginning of February. I don't think they've ever flown on Weds. That could alter in 18/19 of course.

easyJet is dropping Marrakech at the end of this summer season. If TOM is taking it up it will be sweet as TOM had announced RAK a few years ago but then dropped it before it commenced because easyJet announced they would be operating it.

Punta Cana has already been announced for next summer so it seems likely that would be the airport rather than La Romana.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
