Bristol: TUI Airways Route News & Base Updates

Was curious to see how well the Cancun and Sanford flights started off. I believe there were no return flights for the first departures as it started in May? If i'm wrong i'll correct it.
Cancun 1740 average pax 248 LF 82%.
Sanford 1815 average pax 259 LF 86%.

Yes, the flights did commence on the 6 and 7 May respectively and there were no return working for those flights.

The inbound flights on the following weekend would probably have been not as full as subsequent inbounds because many people would have gone for a fortnight. The same sort of thing will happen with the re-started routes this weekend. We were told at the time by those at BRS who would know that the early flights in May departed either full or with an odd seat or two spare.

The TOM B787-8s have 288 seats I think.

That would make the load factors slightly higher - 86% and 90% respectively.

The TOM 788 have 300 seats 47 Premium Economy and 253 Economy (source Wikipedia). It still good average load factors and like you said some flights would be more fuller than others. Its a good start.

I took it from Seat Guru which shows 288 seats - 47 premium and 241 standard. Another site - Airline Update - shows the same.

With the 2 routes operated from brs this week end I thought they brought back Glasgow pax to Glasgow that were at the resorts,as the Glasgow rotations were flown instead of brs and destinations were same day as brs. They flew Glasgow instead of BRS, the school summer holidays were earlier than the ones in England. The same thing happened when the brs flights operated the last time tui had a series of flights.

SUMMARY
These increases make BRS the 4th largest TOM base in terms of routes, and flights per week (as well as based aircraft) in both 2017 & 2018 after LGW, MAN & BHX. In the last few years TOM has grown the BRS base from a two aircraft (up until 2015) when it became a 3 aircraft base. In terms of departures per week it means that BRS has leapfrogged NCL, EMA and STN to become the 4th largest base.

Yes, I was going to make the same point about Neos operating on Saturdays to Verona on behalf of Thomson Lakes and Mountains. Before Neos Mistral was the carrier for TOM for a few years. bmi regional operates to VRN for Inghams.

In the past five or six years my wife and I have been to both Montreux and Lucerne with Thomson Holidays in summer and on both occasions the carrier was easyJet via Geneva with onward surface transport by rail.

Thanks too Severn , the schedule is looking great isn't it. Just a thought out of the box, there is a lot of Tbas to be announced here and who knows the schedule may yet change again but I wonder if we are gearing up for aircraft no 4. Almost enough for it to do already ... just a thought tho

With the exception of a M, W and Th, every day has at least 2 extra flights that could support a 4th aircraft. I believe it's planned to be 1x 738 and 2x 757 again. The extra could be another 738. On the M W Th that aircraft could W pattern with another Airport, as over the past year or 2 BRS have seen W patterns from Aircraft based at others airports. It's surprising how TOM and TCX are growing so well at BRS. I still have a feeling that some of these flights will be seats on EZY though.

Norwegian and Aer Europa have 45 min turnarounds which none of the TBA's have. Unless TOM are putting out a rough schedule before agreeing with the Airline, it could mean we can rule out D8 and AEA. The Tue PMI is showing as TBA BRS based in flights section, but is showing with EZY when booked in the holiday section. I guess as Skiathos is now available

Cancun and Sanford - June 2017

CAA stats show that Cancun carried 1690 passengers and Sanford 1971. Both routes took a break for four weeks beginning the weekend 24/25 June meaning that in June there were three outbounds and four inbounds.

This gives an average load of 241.4 (load factor 83.8%) for Cancun and 281.6 (97.8%) for Sanford. Slightly disappointing figure for Cancun.

Incidentally, today's flight to Cancun again went non-stop and is showing an arrival nine minutes early. Touching wood, I think that there has only been one occasion when the Cancun needed a fuel stop.

Cancun

TOM644 BRS-CUN went out via MAN this morning according to FR24. I take it this was a fuel stop. If so, I make it the second time this summer that the outbound CUN has had to make an en-route fuel stop.
