Flew in to BHX from Malaga this morning. Flight was full. I was quite impressed. Paid less than Ryanair and service was better.

A friend of mine recently used Vueling to Barcelona and spoke very highly of them.

It makes me wonder why so many of their reviews are so negative.

Apparently Vueling are in the process of updating their website, but as it stands Barcelona will be reduced from daily to 4x weekly (Mon/Wed/Fri/Sun) next summer...

and the net loss will be a whopping 17 flights per week (3x BCN, 6x ORY, 3x ALC, 3x AGP, 2x TFS)!

They have been among those rumoured for a MON joint venture though.

I wasnt aware BCN was daily ?

BCN was daily this summer, so if nothing changes it looks like we will have 5 fewer weekly flights to BCN next summer than we had this summer (3x Vueling, 2x Norwegian).

Monarch are also showing a reduced frequency on BHX-BCN (and several other routes) but if this new ownership/partnership doesn't change anything, they still have around 25% of their S18 flights waiting to be added.

I really do despair at what happened to Vueling.

They showed so much promise, and to cut back as quickly as they have, well, I just don't get it personally. But there we go.

They're still advertising the Orly flight on the huge electronic billboard near J10 of the M6, weird to advertise Orly but not Barcelona.

It's a bigger aircraft that they have to fill over the winter so maybe they feel it needs more of an advertising boost than Barcelona?

Orly now ends October 29th with just two flights over the Christmas period.

So, from just 4x weekly Barcelona, going up to 22 weekly flights covering five destinations, then back down again to just 4x weekly Barcelona, all in the space of three years.

Bye bye Vueling.

So much for all those Vueling adds on social media for booking Barcelona and Orly this winter - they've all been deleted!

As it stands 2018 is increasingly looking challenging as we still do not know what is happening with Monarch, i thinbk it is fair to say we may not be getting double digit growth like this year, however as long as we do grow compared to 2017 then i will be happy. :cautious:

I am very dissapointed that we are losing Paris Orly (n)

It's been said that 2018 is going to be a very challenging year across the board.

We have Vueling pretty much pulling its regional UK ops, save a few routes.

We have a question mark over what and where Monarch will be.

Wizz seems to be faltering a little on UK regional ops.

Ryanair pulling lots of routes this winter, will summer see less growth than planned?

Air Berlin is hanging on by a thread.

I doubt this is the last we will see of these types of issues. Yes, there will be gains, but as BrumX said, I don't think 2018 is going to bring the stellar growth 2017 has seen.

I think we should also appreciate that 2017 has been a phenomenal year and well above average. If there is a drop in 2018, this may just be a return to the norm.

We've got used to hearing about lots of growth (often double digit) - it had to come to an end sooner or later.

Grrrr that's a tease. Can only hope the demise of MON has lead to a change of heart from VY!!!

There has been a change of heart on paper, I've seen the flight times, numbers and days for the MAN operation with my own eyes. I've heard a similar one due at BHX too, so, definately one to watch. The routes are not exciting, ground breakers, but, they go some way to filling the Monarch gap.

Whether the paper plans change to reality, well, with Bueling, it remains to be seen.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
