Birmingham and its rich history never fails to surprise me. It was only today that i found out that that great United States author Washington Irving wrote 'Rip Van Winkle' and 'The Legend of Sleepy Hollow' while he was living in Birmingham with his sister in about 1824.

A statue to Rip Van Winkle in Brum? Now that would make a great talking point...

Great stuff, a massive well done to all concerned (y)

Do we know when it will be officially confirmed?

With a few years less than usual to get things organised I hope that plans are now starting to swing into action, this is our time to shine :)

Ive heard Ray that we should know for certain by the end of November.

Rooms with private showers and wc !
Worth watching for nightclub scene and the soldiers guarding a palace in Athens.

Moved from the RD thread.

I'd suggest that Ray Finkle is volunteered to make BHX's announcements until at least a new CEO is appointed.

Position accepted :)

I shall give you some advance previews.

-The M6 to be diverted to allow construction of a brand new, ultra modern, four runway airport, to be located east of the current site (think Suvarnabhumi on steroids).

-High speed underground people mover transporting passengers from the airport to the city centre in approximately 54 seconds whilst listening to the dulcet tones of Sir Ozzy Osbourne.

-The new airport will have 2.4 million immigration booths with a view to reducing queuing times to 0.014 seconds. We still anticipate a barrage of complaints on social media however.

-There will be a new, state of the art, baggage system operated by mystical elves totally hidden from public view. Swissport will still be our handling agent of choice so we have someone to blame should one of the unicorns suffer a breakdown.

-Catering outlets will reflect Birmingham's current position as the culinary destination in the UK. Michelin Starred chef and local Bluenose hero Glynn Purnell will open a chic, contemporary bistro called Chel 'm' Sleywood, offering the finest kebab meat n chips and a drinks menu listing such vintages as White Lightning and Special Brew. Ryanair boarding passes must be shown to gain access.

-Fashion outlets are to be housed in Bullring II, accessed by canal (we have more than Venice) on the SS Tolkien where personal shoppers will be on hand to fit passengers out in the full Peaky Blinders look.

-HS2 will have a station located within the terminal but trains will only operate in one direction, London to Birmingham, terminating trains will be shipped straight to Taronis. This will start the re-balancing of the UK economy and help people realise that there is life outside of the M25. By the time we are fully operational that little airfield in Hounslow West will become obsolete so we'll flog the site for housing.

-Advanced discussions are being held with a consortium of multi-gazillionaires about starting Birmingham Airways with an initial fleet of 16 A380's, 25 A350's, 25 787's and 50 A321's. Destinations will include most of the world's major cities with the highlights being flights to New York, Dubai and Delhi departing every fifteen minutes. Code share agreements are being sought with Africaada, Vule Airways, Atmosphere Airlines UK and Air Sylhet, thus enhancing our global connectivity. No flights will operate between Birmingham and Orlando International as there is some sort of legally binding agreement preventing them from ever happening!

-The current site will be split between enhanced car parking for the NEC, an extension to Birmingham Trading estate and a new 110,000 seat stadium for Solihull Moors. The northern end of the current runway will be opened up so the chavs currently terrorising large parts of the city on those awful sounding 'motorbikes' can have somewhere to perform their 'wheelies' leaving the rest of us in peace.

Do I get the job?o_O

Absolutely superb, Ray!

You've certainly got my vote.
Wonderful to see Glynn Purnell on board. I haven't (yet) eaten at his restaurants, but I do have his cookbooks.
The main outstanding question, is about the world class viewing facility that you would provide.
Also, your plan would require a massive new train building program. I trust that Tyseley locomotive works would get the contract.

Tsk tsk Mr Farnell, you know we ain't got no time for them folk round ere!

However, enthusiasts will have full use of the new geological wonder that is/was Packington landfill site. Fifty years of household waste perfectly formed into a viewing platform optimised for pure spotting pleasure. New public bridleways will be created alongside interactive displays highlighting how this was, in it's hey day, the busiest landfill site in Europe with over 2000 lorry loads of waste per day. There will also be up close and personal tours of methane gas expulsion which is expected to continue for the next 25 years or so. Opening day is expected sometime around 2024 which is when we expect the 'bin juice' oozing to cease.

Unfortunately due to Brexit and the resultant weakening of Sterling we have no option but to relocate production to Burkina Faso, one of the worlds foremost manufacturers of rolling stock. Businesses in the region can rest assured that our double daily A380 services to Ouagadougou Airport will ensure maximum connectivity to this key business destination.

Sir Ozzy Osborne? surely it should be Jasper Carrot explaining there's "no cow'n Bovril"

Thank you for your suggestion, we are always happy to hear from our customers and will ensure that your thoughts are passed on to the relevant department. I can confirm that Mr Carrot is on our wish list and we do hope that he will be making announcements on our people mover in the very near future.

Sorry to be a dissenting voice here but frankly, your failure to mention anything about how the airport plans to cope with the expected influx of immigrants from the neighbouring rogue state of The Democratic People's Republic of the Black Country is nothing short of negligent. Ay it?

Hang on Ray....no Squeezyjet to Southend so I can get to see me Mum quicker? I thought you were the man for the job, but....

Thank you for your suggestion we will forward it to the appropriate department. You are welcome to sign up to our newsletter and be first to hear about our newest routes including 8x daily flights to Southend International using our newest, ultra modern Dreamliner aircraft.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
