From the second release of flights from BE today, it shows that from June there will be 2x E175's and 1x E195 based. I read somewhere that BE are loosing 3 E195's from June 2018 so it might be linked. This will be a shame as routes such as EDI, VRN and FCO for example will see a reduction in capacity for next year.

It was going to happen in the end, as the 195's go back. Considering that many felt that once they went back Flybe would disappear from CWL and the 175's would never get based here it shows they may feel that the CWL base has a future.

With the Q400 being replaced by an E175 i decided to have a look at the schedule for the aircraft in summer 18, i sampled a week in June and will put the departure time from CWL and then it's arrival time back at CWL. This is an updated version of the earlier post done on the 19/10/17.

Had a look through the schedule and with the exception of the base changing to 2 E175s and 1 E195 and Jersey being dropped on Saturdays and Dusseldorf being dropped completely, i can't find any difference to the previous schedule.

So is this an enhanced programme compared to that originally announced for summer 2018? There still seem to be some gaps on Saturdays.

Nothing seems to have changed apart from the aircraft, 2 E175s and 1 E195 and Jersey and Dusseldorf being dropped on Saturdays. So hopefully there will be more to come from Flybe as i can't see them parking the aircraft up for most of the day on saturdays.

Thank for that, Jerry. Perhaps Flybe is waiting until it finalises a deal with a tour operator to use the 'vacant' aircraft on a sun route or two. I think that you and others have speculated on this in the recent past.

Yes hopefully. Will be interesting to see what routes fill the gaps.

There is a loss of seats potentially in Summer 2018 v Summer 2017 as 1 x Q400 & 2 x E195 are replaced with 2 x E175 & 1 x E195.

Each aircraft type holds as follows;

Dash8-Q400 - 78 Seats
Embraer E175 - 88 Seats
Embraer E195 - 118 Seats

Of course If all three aircraft are utilised well then the overall capacity may actually increase.

I am interesting to see what happens with the current gaps and who will be the operator if they are not scheduled flights. I hope we dont have to wait long to hear of this big news that has been suggested.

Jersey and Dusseldorf being dropped on Saturdays

I'm not too sure about the Saturday JER service after June, but it's worth noting that DUS is due to be added in at some stage, I think @TheLocalYokel is on the right lines with regards to BE and potential tour operators talks being finalised, I'd expect things to be sorted quickly if this is the case to maximise the window for bookings

Tour operators would want their holidays on sale by now, so it would have to be soon. Although a slight loss of seats, this should help improve LF. The 195 is perfect for some routes but not all. Hopefully BE will plan the schedule around this but will likely mean changes to what was already released for the first half of the summer. Free commonality will also be a boost as well as local employment to fill the positions that were previously BHD crews.

But many of those seats weren't actually being sold. With most of the routes the average loads are under 80 passengers. It's only really Rome, Faro, Verona, Milan and Paris that gets over 80 a lot and the 195 does operate to those destinations a lot. Thier operation should also be more profitable.

If DUS is to be added then hopefully it may well be soon. I saw Flybe post on their Facebook page that by the end of the month that everything including winter 2018/19 will be released. Many of the tour operators are still tweaking their schedules and i also wonder if they are looking at busy airports then they are still waiting for the slots.

Just been checking to see if Flybe had added anymore flights and destinations for next year and happened to notice Inverness on the drop down. I'm not sure if it was there before or if it's been added. Nothing is bookable except a few dates in November, December and January via BHD and they look to be one way. Could be just a random connection but it's something to keep an eye on. Also noticed that their is no sign of Blue Islands yet with GCI.

On Flybe.com there is an advert advertising it's routes with Eastern airways and onward connections. It offers connections through Cardiff for both Anglesey and Newcastle.
For Anglesey it offers connections to Paris CDG, Berlin TXL, Milan MXP, Jersey, Belfast City and Edinburgh.
For Newcastle it offers connections to Berlin TXL and Milan MXP.
Also it offers Cardiff as an onward connection from Isle of Man via Belfast City as well as onward connections to Kirkwall and Stornoway from Cardiff via Aberdeen.
It doesn't look like a lot of it is bookable at the moment though.

The prospect of VLY connections is something that sounds really good in principle.

However, what are the likely connection times currently ? I don’t think the aircraft arrives back in time for the second wave of BE departures, correct me if it does.

Great in principle, but would like to see how it plays out. I wouldn’t bet against it that many VLY originating PAX already use separate bookings in a similar way for CWL flights - Or trek to LPL, MAN or BHX.

BE’s 10 year deal does seem to be working well for them at CWL, after quite a slow start this Summer season seems to have done quite well. Now we get into the testing winter months where many airlines have fell by the wayside at CWL - In fact all - TUI reduce to a single aircraft and have a non-op day, TCX’s winter programme is long gone, VY disappear and many other seasonalities present CWL’s largest challenge, and with that BE’s.

Long term, they need to find sufficient work for 3 E175’s (2 E195’s, 1 E175 currently) in the Winter months. Last winters performance was on the whole quite poor so lets see how this winter gets on.

Actually, CWL doesn't do much worse than BRS with TUI in winter. There is only one B757 operating for much of the week and it's only busier (than CWL) on Fridays and at weekends with the ski season when an additional B757 and a B738 are brought in.

In fact, I don't think there are any flights on Wednesdays at BRS for at least part of the winter.

I'm basing these comments on last winter. I haven't checked the coming winter in any detail.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
