If it was Etihad or Turkish either the negotiations fell through or the time is not right at the moment. Anything like this, including NYC, might have to wait until the final outcome of Brexit is known.

Also it is possible that Qatar announcing flights to Cardiff could've spooked them and cooled their interest. Also with Etihad they have been making cutbacks on other routes.

EZY Predictions

I had a look at where EZY flies to from it's other UK bases that it does not currently serve from BRS.
I then came up with the three lists below:

Many thanks for that, Severn. I've tended to rule out some easyJet destinations that operate from the likes of LGW but after Genoa I'm now more receptive to what I might have previously considered unlikely.

Looking at current easyJet routes from elsewhere not served from BRS but which have been in the past brings this list.

Hamburg (now bmir)
Milan Malpensa (now bmir)
Valencia (now Ryanair)
Marrakech (TUI next winter)
Bastia (was operated by bmir for a tour company but seems to have been axed for 2018)
Budapest (now Ryanair)
Gdansk (now Ryanair)
Biarritz (now unserved)
Rijeka (not served at all by easyJet now)
Warsaw Chopin (not served at all by easyJet now. Wizz pulled out from BRS last year, Ryanair serves Modlin from BRS)

In addition these current easyJet routes at BRS were operated in the past before being axed and then returned after several years' absence.

Bilbao (absent between 2004 and 2015)
Copenhagen (absent between 2004 and 2012)
Venice MP (absent between 2009 and 2016)

I've put these in to show that routes tried in the past but not currently operated doesn't necessarily mean that easyJet would not look again.

I would like to see larnaca , tel aviv, Granada , Tallinn Sofia tivat mykonos Rhodes kos and Thessaloniki. Also if Basel works then why not Zurich ?

Perhaps it would be a better bet if Swiss could be persuaded to operate Zurich. This would give connectivity but the point to point might numbers might not be as good as with easyJet.

There are 19 synagogues in the catchment area including Devon and Cornwall and Bournemouth. Manchester area has 15 Synagogues and Chabads and has a flight to Tel Aviv by EZY
I have not included Wales which could be a catchment.

There could be demand for this service.

I don't know if the overwhelming majority of passengers to/from Tel Aviv are Jewish people or whether other people also make up a large presence, perhaps travelling for leisure.

A quick perusal of the Internet suggests that about two-thirds of the UK's Jewish community live in Greater London and nearby areas. Greater Manchester is also an area with a large Jewish presence, estimated at 30,000 people, with Leeds, Glasgow, Liverpool and Gateshead also having substantial numbers.

The South West and South Wales don't seem to be mentioned to that degree but I'm sure that easyJet will have done research if Tel Aviv from BRS is on their radar.

According to the 2011 census there is only 2000 followers of Judaism in Wales and although that wouldn't be the main indication of whether Tel Aviv would be a big draw for Welsh based passengers it might help to suggest the demographics for a Tel Aviv route being popular from Wales or for a BRS based route relying on drawing passengers from Wales like a lot of BRS routes do, isn't there, i don't just think Israel would be popular for Welsh passengers on a large scale.

I have said it before , I think tel aviv could be a very popular route . Trips to the holy land , city breaks and sun worshippers will all fancy it. I suspect it could be a winter route to start with though

BMI will likely pick up ZRH with tie ups with Swiss as they do with LH
