Now that was what you call a proper game.

By the way don't worry about tomorrow dog is quietly confident and is currently fast asleep in front of the fire although I'm slightly worried as it's got its paws crossed?
The dog will need more than his paws crossed tomorrow. Youv'e been warned Blue noses this could get messy,
and just in case I'm wrong I may be offline for a few months!!:shamefullyembarrassed:

Sorry for my little group of posts - just making the post count up.

Purely for parochial reasons I was hoping for a Blues win today. It puts the red BCFC further behind the second-placed team (Villa) now.

As the only Bluenose in I have no one to console myself with.

Wolves and villa go up, baggies come down. Oh football in Greater Brum! Mighty Moors also lost and the Brum women. Not a good weekend.

Well apart from that it was a great weekend oh I forgot England's result in the twenty twenty, time for a pint I think.

I just posted a prominent song from the 90's on another thread and it got me thinking about some of Birmingham's legendary pubs and clubs from my youth.

My first ever nightclub at the tender age of 14 (thank god no photo I.D. back then) was Edwards No.8 and what a place it was. If anybody was a regular in the late 80's or early 90's they will know. Eddie's main rival at the time was XL's in Auchinleck Square, it didn't quite have the soul of Eddie's but it was still a great night. The Institute in Digbeth also joined in as a four floor venue with Rock, Indie, a chill out floor and a basement where nobody really knew what was going on but a great night was almost guaranteed. After having a skin full of whisky in the Barrel Organ we'd head across and hit the Newc'y Brown trying to sober slightly  There was also some memorable (or not so) nights at the Hummingbird but the less said about that place the better I think

Fast forward a few years and it was all about Dome II. We'd spend a Saturday afternoon in the White Lion then early evening head across the road to 'The Dome' , which in the mid 90's was the place. I know some who hated the place but I have nothing but fantastic memories :)

Did anyone ever go to Central Park on Smallbrook Queensway, the bar which led you through a tunnel into a nightclub? I think it may have been Ritzy's?

Tressines, Bambu, Wobble, The Steering Wheel, Saramoon's, Tin Tin's, DNA, Exile, Mr Bill's Bier Keller, Snobs, Bobby Browns, the Que Club (Sundissential, Autumn Orange), Kaleidoscope, New Orleans, Bakers, Godskitchen and who could forget the legendary Costamongers?

I bet everyone remembers chips at Mr Egg?

Out in the suburbs we had Rosie's in Solihull, Sloanes in Sutton and of course the Bel Air.

Great times.

Remember them well had some excellent nights out in quite a few of those establishments mate

I get the feeling that, like me, there are many, many stories that you'd so love to share but you dare not........just in case?

I feel you brother ;)

First pub I visited aged 16 was the Arden Oak on tho Cov rd In Sheldon first drink pint of mild we knew how to live then,.is it still there and if so what is it called

The next week we went to the Woodman in Shirley and I managed to get chucked out along with my girlfriend now known as she who must be obeyed.I have visited the odd pub or three over the years tonight its the Green Dragon in Sambourne

P.S.Ray you are definitely not the only one to walk in to those mirrors I achieved that distinction on my stag night trying to leave to go on to the Peter Rabbit club (don't ask)

Our Saturday night regular was the Buccaneer, which was attached to the hotel at the entrance to the old Elmdon Airport ( now a Holiday Inn I think ). Used to walk up from Sheldon ( we all lived by the Radlees ), 6 pints of M&B bitter, get the Midland Red 159 down to the Wheatsheaf, a bag of chips from the chippie, and still had change from £1 at the end of the night. In hindsight that beer was awful.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
