Did Flybe reduce the frequency on NQY-DSA from the year before?

Did Flybe reduce the frequency on NQY-DSA from the year before?
NQY-DSA was new in 2016 when 11,255 passengers were carried - 7,101 in 2017 - by Flybe. Probably forest1979 would know whether there was a reduction in frequency and/or season to account for the drop in passenger numbers.

Interestingly i don't. I suspect LBA has taken some of the shine from that route once it was up and running. There was a big thing about DSA when it was initially launched.
Flybe are certainly connected with pretty much all of the UK (During the summer at least) I think its now down to NQY and the airports to promote and push the routes for those who want to make the trip for pleasure or for business as an alternative to road/rail.

CAA Stats March 2018

24,207 pssengers were handled in the month, down 0.6% on March 2017. Atms were down 1.8%. Rolling 12-month total was 464,614, up 20.4% on a year ago.

A number of airports were down in March, partly because of the high number of cancelled flights brought about by the severe weather.

Some body is doing things right some where to get good pax numbers each month. And with a airport situated out the way.

They are doing ok however.. I wonder how well they would do (as in better) if it was in private hands? I’m not sure what kind of numbers they would need to sustain for this but I’m guessing +500k pa..
if they have another good year and Alicante does well through the winter then I would hope this may attract more year round traffic.
Saturdays peak summer looks pretty good for an airport the size of a shoebox. Using it again in 6 weeks so will give a little update..

CAA Stats April 2018

Published today and show that 22,572 passengers used the terminal in the month, down 45.7% on April 2017. Atms were down 17.6%. Rolling total was 445,635, up 12.3% on a year ago.

BHX is s 53% down - 1470 fewer passengers than April 2017
LGW down 34% - 4422 fewer
ISC down 50% - 1087 fewer
LBA down 63% - 1839 fewer
MAN down 43% - 3228 fewer
DUB down 5% - 1000 fewer
HHN down 48% - 1160 fewer
FAO down 49% - 1442 fewer
ALC down 41% - 1189 fewer

These figures can't be right. As many of the reductions are in the vicinity of 50% I wonder if someone has only counted one of the two sectors on each route, eg with NQY-MAN-NQY only the NQY-MAN sectors.

I remember several years ago that one month BRS was shown in CAA stats as being down by a huge percentage amount which was clearly wrong. Eventually the figures were corrected.

CAA Stats May 2018

23,098 passengers handled, down 50.2% on May 2017. Atms were down 5.8%. Rolling 12-month total 422,365, up 4.2% on a year ago.

As with April there seems something very wrong with the figures. Atms down 5.8% but passenger numbers down 50.2%. April and May can't be right.

I agree, this cant be right. Might have to check in with the airport on it. There was nothing major i can remember from last year that would suggest a massive down turn in numbers. Lets hope it is a blip and we can get it corrected as it would be good to know where we are at for this year...

Revised CAA stats

The CAA seems to have got its act together.

They are now showing that:

April saw 38,440 terminal passengers, down 7% on April 2017
May saw 46,447 terminal passengers, unchanged percentagewise on May 2017
June saw 54,417 terminal passengers, up 5% on June 2017

Because NQY was one of the last airports to report in June, it is missing from the CAA's monthly league table of airport performance so I can't establish the rolling 12-month total, but it isn't likely to have altered much from 12 months ago.

Interesting, deffinatley more flights this year (german flights 2 more) and winter sun to start this year..

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
