Quite a few people tweeting at the moment about delays of up to 1 & 1/2 hours wait for bags. The airport are blaming staffing levels at Swiss port. Hasn't this been going on all summer?!
But the passengers don't do they?They blame the Airport.Just had a thought, why dont airports handle stuff themselves ?? Oh yes i know, becouse they can blame somebody else for it when it goes wrong.
I doubt most passengers know that the handlers are an outside firm, they'll just think they are airport employees. It's the same with flight prices and delays it'll be the airport blamed for the most part.Yes it has and no end in sight by the looks of it.

So I returned last week (14th) from a lovely week with Jet2 which saw me use both a new company and a new airport, have to say I was very impressed.
On arrival at BHX we were dropped off outside the terminal at around 06:30 after a 2 hour car ride from Cardiff, After getting in the terminal out from the fold and rainy weather, we approached the Jet2 check in desks, A lovely friendly greeting arrived from a gentleman saying welcome to Jet2 check in and directed us to a free desk, There was at least 10 of these opened at this time with no queues at all, very efficient check in which took no longer than a few mins to drop bags and check passports, The lady behind the desk told us which gate we would be leaving from and also asked us have we visited Birmingham before, in which I replied no and gave us directions of where to find things in airport along with a have a nice holiday and a lovely flight goodbye, No problems at security whatsoever, 10 mins to queue and get through which was all fine, I noticed only a few of the screening areas were opened, I imagine In busier summer times all are opened, Once through security we headed straight to the wetherspoons for a light breakfast, Toast and jam along with a nice pint of orange juice which all came to a reasonable few pounds per person, Staff were very polite and we were served very quickly and the food also came in a few mins, This then left a little time before heading to the gate in which time we have a look around the shops available and also the views of the aircraft on the way to the gates.

At around 8:40 we headed to the gate which I believe was 62A ( roughly ), we were only sat down for a few minutes in which time the boarding staff called the flight and the bus was waiting to take us to the waiting aircraft, after a short bus ride we arrived at the aircraft which was G-JZHV straight on to the aircraft and greeted with a very friendly welcome to Jet2 and have a lovely flight again, Seat 8A I selected at the time of check in and immediately noticed how excellent the leg room is in comparison to other airlines ( TUI for example) very roomy which for a 4 hour flight was very comfortable indeed, seat also was very comfortable, plenty of back support, The flight was quickly boarded and very full, only around 2 seats spare, The captain gave a briefing on the route and also said he would be back with us with further updates in the cruise ( 4 updates to precise), The flight departed around 15 mins late

Really enjoyed it although it was so much hotter than two years ago with temperatures in the early 30's and the 'feels like' temperature into the late 30's. Also all of that lovely food means that my jeans seem to have shrunk

Today, my girlfriends Mom was flying back from BHX to NOC. She's an elderly lady and had booked special assistance.
My girlfriend dropped her off and she was taken through to the gate. Shortly after the flight departed my girlfriend received a call from her Mom to say she was still at the gate and there was no-one around.
How could this possibly happen? Boarding cards are supposed to be checked and counted, surely?
An abysmal situation, for which I suspect she can claim a lot of compensation.
She has been told she can fly tomorrow, but the stress and disrution to not only herself, but also her Son (who was on a two hour return journey to collect her from NOC) and my girlfriend who having dropped her at BHX today has had to return to collect her and will have to drop her off again tomorrow.
