Mr and Mrs Aviador have had a trip to the pub this evening. Managed a bottle of South African Merlot (shared) and a couple of Taliskers.

I hope that Mrs A liked the Talisker? Gods own drink (y)

Mrs F and I are off for a kid free weekend in Church Stretton tomorrow, we're staying in a pub which seemed a great idea but it could potentially end up a little messy :nailbiting:

Mrs Aviador refrained from trying the Talisker. I said she probably wouldn't like it anyway. It's not something I like sharing though to be honest.

Sounds like your going to have a great time tomorrow. Enjoy your time without the sprogs to the full!

Enjoy! Haven’t been to Church Stretton for years - there used to be a shop in the high street that always reminded me of the Four Candles sketch. I remember it always had nice Christmas decorations.

School night I know but I’ve had to poor myself a little drop of Writers Tears Irish Whisky to cheer me up - went and got my hair cut this afternoon and the hairdresser asked if I wanted my eyebrows trimming!!! Any remaining traces of my youth died in one cruel sentence!

Happened to me for the first time about 12 months ago, after the look of surprise on my face I haven't been asked since.

I have no idea how they ended up in the fridge but I came home to find two bottles of Babycham. Not had it in years but I am quite enjoying it (y)

I'd love a Babycham. I wouldn't really but that was their advertising catchphrase. When my generation was growing into adulthood in the 1960s Babycham was one of those things in life that brought sophistication into some people's lives - or so some of us thought at the time.

Babycham was produced by Showerings at Shepton Mallet in my county of Somerset (where I grew up before crossing the border into Bristol), and its perry drink was aimed mainly at women. Showerings were bought out in the 1990s but the current generation of the family now produces perry at Shepton Mallet under the Brothers Cider name.

Does any one drink Mateus Rose? I'm not too fond of rose wine but will drink it if put in front of me. Again in the 60s we local jet set (as we thought ourselves) believed that the height of good living was a meal at a Berni Inn often consisting of prawn cocktail, rump steak and Black Forest gateau, lubricated by that rose in a funny bottle. It has to be remembered that in the 1960s going out for a meal was nowhere near as commonplace as it is now.

Last night was a trip round the real ale pubs between Piccadilly and Oxford Road in Mancheter

HaHa cheeky no but it was a good night out with a look at some of the building projects that are going on in the area
as well, never seen so many tower cranes in a small area ( 67 in Manchester city centre alone )

Its good too see our cities booming with all the development work going on Brum is sprouting new buildings like there's no tomorrow, I've no idea how many cranes though, mind you Brum X is our residents expert down here on such matters.

Cheers.
