However I have just done a dummy booking for March 2020 and you can book BHX-Berlin TXL ??

So is this just the system catching up or some of these routes will become seasonal ??

The worst case scenario for BHX would be easyJet having their eyes turned to MAN with the availability of some peak time slots which are relatively scarce there and so decide to grasp that opportunity (e.g. 8 TCX departures were meant to happen from 05.20 to 06.05 tomorrow) whilst they can and postpone any BHX expansion that was planned.

This scenario does bring an interesting twist to events at BHX. What now for T2/Eurohub/South Terminal.
Plenty of spare capacity, and ready made space for a new incumbent.
Will there be a few changes such as 1 or 2 airlines moving over from the other terminal or will we see something from left field and a new kid on the block???
Would Ryanair, the other resident here, consider something totally out of the blue???
Open to debate.

Were they the airline that reportedly jumped on the AMS and CDG slots or are we all putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with minus 12?
I think it's a good chance that they are, only other contenders would be LEVEL and maybe a long shot, Jet2.

Brummiegem
Some very interesting questions, I think the airline part is very interesting in that obviously the UK is going to be a TAD short
of airliners next year through various reasons i:e TCX or lack of, still a shortage of 737MAX even if they do get their certificate back
this could lead to quite a bit of work being offered to european airlines as it was in 80/90s, Jet2 seems to be the airline that has the plans
so lets just wait and see and we may get some pleasant suprises.

Business to business routes. They will have to come back...not FlyBe but someone will pick them up.

Hopefully.

Cannot lose business routes as they bring investment in not take people on holiday which is business out.

My worry is these are business more than leisure routes and probably not suitable for the 150+ seat aircraft operated by the airlines the airport hopes to attract.
They are certainly not seasonal routes so once they are gone they are gone.
I really cannot see an airline with the equipment to reinstate them.
Best probably to continue to aim to be the nations leading bucket and spade airport

Eurowings or Lufthansa Regional would be options I would think using Dash 8 or Embrarer aircraft.

Why the ++++ don,t they just announce the route closures and if they will not why doesn't the airport?
This nonsense where people have to find out for themselves when making plans is getting ridiculous.
I echo this thoroughly that they should publicise the cancellations, I booked a trip to Hamburg for October way back in July and received an email within a few days of booking telling me the flight was cancelled, despite being two months out from the flight.
As a result I've had to rebook from Stansted  albeit at a much cheaper flight price but had to arrange transport there instead of local airport.

I would like to think Eurowings would take on Hamburg but little chance of Hanover
No Milan or Berlin is unthinkable but ideal for easyjet
Agree that Berlin & Milan are 'easy' routes for Easyjet to target in the future, just because of their existing bases in those cities.

Very poor by Flybe to do this so late, these being business destinations is not a good sign as the prices on these flights can often be very expensive. I doubt these will be the only cutbacks in that case and have concerns for the French regional destinations.

Once again BHX look to 'back' an airline and once again they are left high and dry with no replacement likely in the short term. Berlin, Hamburg, Hanover, Milan, Stockholm, Lisbon, Reykjavik, Athens....... do I need to go on!

Airlines have zero loyalty to airports so maybe it's time that BHX starts to cover it's own back and stop worrying about putting a few noses out of joint. Not getting easyjet in is now no longer an option!!!

Will this airport ever start learning lessons from the past :banghead:

Absolute shambles.

Did I imagine it, or was the Virgin/Delta/Stobart/Connect... version of Flybe due to get rid of all their jets, so removing all non-turboprop destinations?

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
