The Hans A330 departed at 12:30 🤔 what that's about is it bye bye or perhaps some sort of flight check?
Hans airways
Thanks, I did a search on FR24, but couldn't find an A330.

[EDIT] - Seaeching for G-KJAS, it appears that it did an 18 minute flight, getting no higher than 3,850ft.

Cracking pictures (y)

Had a great day at BHX, got wind burn as it was so blowy, lol. Also felt more like March than July standing on that windy surface car park at the end of 33

I managed to nip to that car park myself and it was definitely rather chilly in that wind.

I had to go and pick the folks up as they came back from Kefalonia this afternoon. Took the little man with me and we swung by Sheldon Park - never been there before. Saudi and EK were running late we didn’t get to see them take off but he did get to see Nanny and Grandad land. A TUI plane literally just got off the runway while there flight was touching down - never seen a close one like that before. Back there again next week as a passenger but as our flight is 6:00am I doubt we’ll see much.

Oh yeah, I saw that and as you say it was close. Later on in the afternoon after the A380 took off and whilst walking back to the terminal, a SunExpress 737 did a go around.

Hi, not sure if people here know about this but I think its really interesting.

The Historic England John Laing Collection, specifically the Birmingham Airport section has has over 100 photos of the construction and end product of the original 80s terminal. Additionally showing various extensions including the Eurohub right up to 2000.

There is an fabulous amount of archival photos which I had never seen before, certainly something worth looking at if the airport terminal history is something that interests you!

It definitely shows how classy and well appointed the airport used to look, a stark comparison to what it looks like now...

What’s the model aircraft that can be seen hanging from the ceiling of T1 here? And does anyone know where it is now?

The closest thing I can find resembling it is a Bleriot.

It's not a model, but a replica of a 1909 Humber Monoplane (i.e. full size and built as close as possible to the original design). It hung there for several years, from the opening of the terminal until the floor was filled in ( I used to see it regularly). I believe that the Humber Monoplane was itself a Bleriot design, built under license. It was originally at the Fleet Air Arm Museum, Yeovilton (on loan to BHX ?), so I don't know if that was where it was returned to.

Couple of Viscounts on the ground and the smoke (!) from a 1-11 seen five miles out! Them were the days when we were mere lads riding around on our Choppers.

Great photo, thanks for sharing, Sir Ray, and I hope you had a good trip.

The One-Eleven was good for the noise but the Spantax CV990 Coronado was undoubted smokey champion with KLM Electra's worthy runners up.

Don't tell the greens.
