Avanti Air Dash-8 (D-AASG, ATV091H) due in from Biggin Hill (BQH) at 13:56. No outbound from BHX showing. Anyone know what these flights are for?

I don't actually know but I'd make a guess having seen somewhere but can't remember where that it's a private company charter.

This aircraft over the last few week has arrives early on Monday morning from Stuggart and returns there late Friday afternoon spending practically week sat on the Elmdon tarmac.

Says to me BMW (Hams Hall engine plant) let's see if it returns to Stuggart today.


Edit : just checked and sure enough due out to Stuggart this afternoon.

Isn't BMW based in Munich Porsche are based in Stuttgart. Not sure on my Bravian region or German Geography.

Indeed, BMW is an acronym of Bayerishe Motor Werke (Bavarian Motor Factory) and the original plant was in Munich.

There was, the last time I was there, a special station on the Stadt Bahn.

Yes it is but BMW have 5/6 plants in the Stuggart area and is the manufacturing centre. My eldest son is a development manager at JLR and back when BMW owned them had many colleagues over from Germany who always flew from Stuggart to BHX with Flybe1 hence my guess that the Avanti flights are related, but as I said it's a guess ☺

The fact BMW head office is in Munich is irrelevant for example TUI and EasyJet have head offices at Luton but small operations there compared to the size of the business. Also jet 2 head office is in Leeds but the vast majority of operations and revenues earned come from elsewhere think of the rapid expansion in MAN,BHX, STN plus BRS and increasingly so given the newsest base at Liverpool next summer.

Either way interesting to see if the Avanti DH-8 returns tomorrow.
