From an article in today's Sunday Telegraph, Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester and Stansted all look set to miss the June deadline for the new upgraded security scanners. They may be in a position to offer a partial service, but it could cause confusion for passengers in peak holiday season.
Nick Barton, CEO Of Birmingham Airport explained how 4 lifts had to be installed just to get the scanners up to the first floor, due to their size!. Birmingham is on course to meet the June deadline.

I passed through the airport last Saturday and was really appalled at the shoddy state of the old 1984 buildings. Surely a spruce up before Easter kicks in is in order!.

It doesn't need cleaning, it needs re-cladding. Give it a darkened glass cover, to match the rest of the building, or silvered panels similar to those on T2/Eurohub. From a visual perspective, concrete is a horrible building material.
Talking of Eurohub, this could also do with a thorough clean. There is a rail system, that runs around the roof, allowing a platform to be lowered to enable cleaning of the panels and glass. I only saw this in operation once, a few months after the terminal opened. Since then, decades of dirt have built up on the silvered panels, making the building look an eyesore. Considering that these are the first impressions passengers departing BHX will have, it doesn't reflect well on the airport.
Oh, and I'd get rid of that 'Hello World' sign. It looks so cheap and tacky.

I look forward to arriving at BHX this October having travelled from BNE via SIN, DXB and IST. My expectations are that: I will egress the aircraft into a pier finger devoid of rust stains and then walk along a welcoming arrival pier en route to immigration. Transcending on an escalator (actually moving) into an arrivals hall fit to deal with World nationals Including working e gates. Waiting for a short time ( an hour plus is slightly excessive) for baggage. During the ensuring wait I will gaze in admiration at the scuff marked hellish coloured walls which are softened by the irregular dull lights of which Eddyson would marvel. With copious baggage I would emerge outside the building to find a line of taxis ready and waiting to whisk me to my ultimate destination. Will my expectations be fulfilled?

Hi guys I’ve seen a post on Google which I’ll link down below.The city council are set to bring many parking charges including Sheldon country park(Which I think means the road that leads to back of R15 the shortcut route)
Prices are as follows
£2.20 for 2 hours
£3.30 for 4 hours
£5 for the day

These will be brought in within the next 2 years I believe so just be aware guys please

There is plenty of street parking around Sheldon country park that is closer to the runway than the actual official car park.

Regrettably no. Our routing from the UK is LGW,DOH,HKG and finally BNE. I bet no one can guess the rationale for arranging flights in this manner, particularly as this method is double the standard fare.

A tad more comfortable though.

Our flight back from BNE was 151/2 hours to Dubai, upon arrival, the departure gate for the BHX was open in a different annexe, so we boarded almost immediately followed by 7 1/2 hours to BHX

We will always go via Perth in future with an 8 hour pampering stop on the way.

Your response partly alludes to the answer. My wife refuses to travel on sectors more than 8- 10 hours and night flights are completely forbidden. This effectively rules out the usual method to travel from Australia to the UK and vice versa which inevitably includes 13/14 hour sectors and night flights. Therefore, instead of booking one return flight in a matter of minutes, numerous days are spent in planning flight schedules, including overnight hotel stays etc. Luckily, we have time on our hands and I do get to experience some of the best airports and cities in the world although at greater cost. This is, of course, contrary to the usual cost/convenience approach by the majority.

Another member poster an interesting article on the Eurohub recently, I think in the nostalga forum.

One of the things that caught my eye was that the Eurohub was owned or part owned by BA.

I wondered, is there currently any appetite, space or interest both on the airport side and the airline side of taking up a new airline owned mini-terminal, built at the airline's expense?

I can see how some airlines might like to control the terminal both in terms of how they can manage the standard of experience the passenger might receive and optimise transfers between flights?
