At the end of the day we are all human beings which means we are all different. We all make and receive feedback in our own way which wont appeal to all and will always ruffle the odd feather or two. Has I have stated before it all shows the passion, enthusiasm, desire, annoyance, frustration etc that we all share for LBA which is a good thing. Rest assured I remain as passionate as ever about wanting this to happen but I have always said this is far from a definite. It has not helped for the last couple of months or so being quite tough personally - for a variety of reasons so apologies to anyone who sensed any over reaction earlier today. There is no intention to fall out with anyone on my part but I will fight my corner where I feel justified

Thanks lbaspotter you had already given us the schedule information which I had forgotten.
So much better from a weather perspective but not so good for a couple of days aircraft spotting in Dusseldorf.

But a bit of fun on a serious subject is at least a relief from the disappointments we keep suffering.
Even though our Jet 2 and Ryanair base is booming my over all feeling is we are loosing too much and need to do better.
I cannot see the new Dusseldorf operation being as popular as it is now with a Dash 8 and as they are Cat 2 only, we will have to see how it gets on during our foggy winter nights.
But it is better than no flights to Dusseldorf at all so lets allow the professionals to do their jobs and hope they get it right.
Why would we have to wait and see how the Dash 8s do on our foggy winter nights? They are operating during our foggy winter lunchtimes!

Recent posts about LBA handling costs in the Loganair thread are making me consider a business model rethink. It either puts a bigger dampener on things, but could just increase the bargaining power. Some serious thinking and calculating to do now. A total curve ball might just be the order of the day

Staggers me that handling costs etc. seem not to have been considered up to now in your business model given they can clearly be the difference between profitability or not

All things that need to be considered have been considered, however the final totalling of all these things is not yet in place and it takes time to work through the complete list to get a total operating cost and it is purely coincidental re the timing of this and it is that that is making me reevaluate certain things, not that they have been forgotten about! I am in full time employment and however much I would dearly love to spend more time on this project than I have, time just doesnt allow so patience is going to have to be a virtue for all concerned

See new Gurensey based airline "Waves" is going to be one of the first European based operators to take advantage of last year's clearance for the commercial use of single-engine turboprops like the Cessna Caravan to start scheduled freight and passenger services. The EASA rules dictate you must be within 15 minutes gliding distance from a safe landing site that is usable in all weather situations along the route on a given day, Thats not to hard operating short UK domestic routes from LBA to places like EDI, GLA, EXT, BRS and so on

So if you was to get this venture of the gound and into the air would you consider using single engine based aircraft like the Cessna Caravan or Beech 1900 Finger66, Or would you stick to the faster dual engine based aircraft like either the J31 or DO228?

Interestingly enough the Cessna Caravan an Pilatus PC12 were considered for a while as lower crewing costs and fewer seats to sell. Flip side though was a probable lack of passenger appeal and even less possible seat margin. So if this all does come to fruition still most likely with a twin.

Now having to watch the latest rumour of mew destinations as had put GLA in to the mix and the likely tag on destination that are rumoured with the reinstatement of GLA. This may result in further reevaluation.

If Eastern and Loganair conspire to bring each other down, there may be some spare J41's or SB340's that you could get on the cheap!!!

Finger66 - how are your plans going? Any progress on your proposed new based airline? Thought I'd ask as it's been a while since your last update. Thanks
Thanks for asking. Two reasons for lack of updates. Firstly plans have been slowed massively, almost to the point of stalled due to a tough few months with personal circumstances. Secondly I felt that due diligence should start to take place and whilst I would love to openly share the finer details this is not great business practice.
What I will say though is that this is far from a dead duck just yet, but at this moment in time is equally nowhere near ready to be a live duck. I always said this had to be done right and not rushed, so just because I and others would love to see this happen now, doesn't mean to say I will risk getting it wrong just to prove any doubters wrong. What I am aware of though is that the longer this is left the greater the risk of potential routes being snapped up by others, although not seeing any great evidence of that just now. Planning does continue, it is just painfully slow and still very much in the Business Plan stage. I am not going to make any official applications for licences and funding etc. until such time as I am 100% happy with the Business Plan.

I know that all sounds very non committal and is also perhaps not what you are wanting to hear either, but this whole venture puts a lot of risk on a lot of people who I have to have fully on side as it's not something I can do on my own. I am constantly open to offers of support and help though.

IPS in the news again. Not sure if it needs moving but feel free to do so.

UK start-up IPS Airways plans Pakistan debut for mid-3Q24: IPS Airways (Leeds/Bradford) is launching long-awaited seasonal charters between Manchester International in the United Kingdom and Islamabad International, Pakistan, on August 23. The flights will be operated by USC (Germany) (XG, Frankfurt International) with an A340-600.

According to schedules posted on its website, IPS Airways has opened ticket sales for charters that will operate 3x weekly until the end of January 2025. Flights depart Manchester on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays and return the next day....

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
