Met a mate for a pint yesterday and he was telling me about his experience in The Avro Lounge. I don’t use the lounges myself being a pleb, but he always uses them and he travels a lot.
To say he was scathing about it would be an understatement. I must have looked incredulous because he told me to check Tripadvisor and see what others had to say. I’ve just done that and, well, dearie dearie me. How could they have got it so very wrong?
Out of 71 reviews, 68 have rated the lounge experience as terrible with a score of 1 out of 5.
Is this a temporary lounge or something?(not that that would excuse it)
Check it out yourself,
Is this because the current LBA offering is aimed at short haul holiday punters not long haul business travellers? The airport seems to refurb the lounges almost annually so if the flight offering were to change in the future I'm sure the lounge offering will change too.

I genuinely don’t know. It seems very poorly thought out. The airport was responding to some of the criticisms on Tripadvisor but seems to have given up.
FWIW, my mate said the old lounges were very good although they’d started to become quite busy. Mind you, he’s a bit of a snob 😁
Regardless, it’s not a good look for a brand new terminal. Hopefully it’s just a temporary location until the refurbishment is finished. It still shouldn’t be as poor as this though.

I don't think it matters if the airport are catering for short haul or long haul passengers. The reviews say it all. I personally think a big problem is 3 drink limit. It puts me off paying for it. Clearly the forward bookings are not strong as I've had 2 emails offering discount rates to use it.

Not sure if it's already been reported but LBA have removed the 3 drink limit from the lounges following 'feedback'
As they should, clearly the lack of bookings for the lounges and discounted pricing they are offering and promoting. I don't condone drunk on board an aircraft however, I don't know of the top of my head any other airport that offers this.

Its like the 'no smoking' policy, not a bad idea but we should not be the first airport to introduce it.

As mentioned no way do I support hammered brits on board disrupting aircraft and compromising safety, some other members may disagree which is fine but its evident the lounges are not preforming as expected due to this rule, I personally wouldn't be forking out just for 3 drinks max. The lounges are an important revenue stream and an easy one for the airport. So revisiting the rules and dropping them is a sensible approach.

I've never seen a worse TripAdvisor rating for any venue anywhere!! Literally the worst reviews (almost all 1*) I've ever seen.
The old ones were awful but the new ones seem even worse. I have a Priority Pass where I can go in most airport lounges free but not at LBA, the knock you £13 off the price. Ridiculous. We are flying to FAO on the 2nd Sept at 17:00 and I’ll be having something to eat and drink anywhere but those lounges.

LBA isn’t - plenty of UK airports don’t have smoking areas after security….https://www.aph.com/community/holidays/can-i-smoke-cigarettes-e-cigarettes-gatwick-heathrow-manchester-birmingham-major-uk-airports-details/amp/

The Avro lounge is free - or it is on my Dragon Pass app. You only have to pay a fee if you want to make a reservation…..That said I find most of the lounges on Dragon and Priority passes fairly poor even the ones at LHR…Always packed and the food isn’t usually up to much so tend not to bother with them anymore.

Leeds is a smoking free airport. There will be no smoking lounges before OR after security.
You can still go outside and smoke before security. https://www.leedsbradfordairport.co... one designated, allowed on board the aircraft.

I believe that was removed when phase 2 was started.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
