Pretty certain it was.Probably due a C check
Probably due
Why if they are going in Autum 2027…the cost is horrendous.Pretty certain it was.
Because they need every aircraft they can get at the moment. The new LGW base ensures that. It will have been in the planning for some time so 733 extended life will be part of that overall fleet availabilityWhy if they are going in Autum 2027…the cost is horrendous.
Typical cost ballparks
- According to the “Aircraft Owners & Operators Guide: 737-300/-400/-500,” a full “C & D checks” maintenance event for 737-300/-400/-500 is quoted at around US$3,600,000 (for the combined C + D-check cycle).
Interestingly according to FR, G-GDFT took almost two and a half hours to reach Dublin overflying Ireland and out over the Atlantic before finally landing at Dublin.Maybe the crew taking FT today will bring back FM?
Because its a legal requirement to keep them flying and because without them they don't have sufficient aircraft. Why if they are going in Autum 2027…the cost is horrendous.

Don't let our "friends" hear you say that @White HeatherBecause its a legal requirement to keep them flying and because without them they don't have sufficient aircraft.
Exactly my point…Given they’re allegedly going in 2027 and given the cost of the C/D checks it seems unlikely that for any of them undergoing this heavy maintenance this expense will be recovered through their revenue earning service. Makes me wonder whether they should have been replaced sooner.
Replaced with what? Jet2 seem to have given up on buying 737s and the A321NEOs aren't arriving any quicker than Airbus say they will. What are arriving seem to be facilitating expansion rather than aircraft replacement.Given they’re allegedly going in 2027 and given the cost of the C/D checks it seems unlikely that for any of them undergoing this heavy maintenance this expense will be recovered through their revenue earning service. Must be must used 800’s available.Replaced with what? Jet2 seem to have given up on buying 737s and the A321NEOs aren't arriving any quicker than Airbus say they will. What are arriving seem to be facilitating expansion rather than aircraft replacement.
Taken in isolation the 300s having C checks might seem to be money that won't be recovered in the next 2 years before they get the axe, but it could be argued that their continued operations has allowed Jet2 to expand into other airports (notably LGW) without the need to lease multiple aircraft. That will certainly enhance their profits and no doubt offset any losses incurred having these C checks done.
You would think so. But they clearly don't want them. Until the Airbus deliveries kicked in we had a steady stream of used 800s, but none recently. Some of the existing 800s are heading towards 30 years old themselves as well as the 300s, so they'll need replacing too, but the indications are that they will be replaced by Airbus A321NEOs. Perhaps the decision has been taken to buy no more 737s?Must be must used 800’s available.
Jet2 LS252 delayed from 13:45 to 18:05 due to strike action at FAO
It’s operating tomorrow at 14:15 along with all other UK-FAO flights.Jet2 LS252 delayed from 13:45 to 18:05 due to strike action at FAO
Or maybe they haven't quite put her back together yet.FM was showing on FR24 as doing an air test today f/t DUB which now seems to have disappeared. Wonder if all is not well?
