I present this evidence as pure anecdotal and I have no evidence to substantiate it..but on our return flight back to LBA last week, one of the cabin crew said the flight back from Fuerteventura was almost full but going out was completely full..Apparently a lot of winter flights out of LBA are high load factors this winter..but said that its in contrast to a lot of routes last summer, where the load factors were well below expectations..

Not scientific so don't shoot the messenger

I swear I read in Jet2 annual reports once they was expecting a lower load factor but higher yield for previous years, doesn’t overly make sense to why you wouldn’t aim for 100% load factor considering ancillary sales but yes, hopefully they’re looking for stronger annual load factors for summer

I had a quick look at the CAA’s airline data. The 737-300 fleet (which is exclusively from LBA on scheduled services now?) had a 90% load factor in June and in August (the 2 months I looked at)
Company wide load factor for summer 25 was 88.2%, 1.6% lower than summer 24. But they’d added 1million more seats that needed filling.

They were, their policy is to get the best price for each seat sold which means the aircraft are less full. If they reduced their prices they would be likely to have better load factors, but overall yield is less.

Lets hope it is included as an option from LBA as Kavala is a good jumping off point for the island of Thassos which is a lovely place to spend a week or two. Currently, as far as I know, it is poorly served from the UK.
Very poorly served from the uk

Bhx has only 1 weekly flight with tui so I think for certain bhx will be included

What is predictable is Jet2 sometimes start destinations from the bases that can absorb the new destination, have a large market. Unlike TUI though they will happily expand to other destinations and bases. So we may not see it this year or next. Or even the year after. But maybe one day we will.

There are quite a few Jet2 Greek destinations LBA have yet to absorb.. ATH, PVK, KLX, MJT, SMI, JTR (was dropped I know)

Be good to get another operate in competing / offering new destinations from LBA, ive noticed timings on a lot of flights to these destinations including Türkiye and Cyprus have awful arrival times back into LBA.

It is now many years ago that we went there on a Thomson (TUI) holiday, not that I currently recommenr a TUI holiday as they are the most unorganised bunch I have ever come across, I imagine from LGW as we were living on the south coast then. Loved everything about Thassos and if it has remained a low profile island I thoroughly recomend a visit especially if you are able to get there via Kavala.

ATH - Has gone from anyone can come when they want to very slot constrained.
PVK - Probably one on the list that could easily be served by Jet2 out of LBA.
KLX - Niche.
MJT - Niche.
SMI - NEW for Summer 26. Also niche.
JTR - Limited by hotel availability. Based on the fact Jet2 still serve JTR and increased frequencies from other bases one would imagine it didn't make the desired revenue from LBA. The airlines gone with the mentality that those in Yorkshire can travel to Manchester should they wish to travel to JTR with Jet2 or easyJet for that matter.

Any airline, if you look at journals, reports, listen to the people, says that a new route from a new base requires nurturing. Translation - it'll make a loss in its first year maybe even second year.

Now with limited stand availability at LBA without the room to expand with new aircraft (and therefore new routes and extra frequencies elsewhere) it's no wonder Jet2 haven't offered any of the above. If Jet2 can obtain another 2/3 based 800's (or A321NEO's) I wouldn't be surprised to see PVK on the summer list. ATH will be totally dependent on the slots that the airline can obtain down in Athens.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
