I keep seeing posts saying that Airline A or Airline B should start a service to the US from BHX because it would work and people are interested to use a local flight. Airlines are looking at different markets all year round. Most Airlines will have a dedicated department looking at the figures to see if they can make revenue for them. IF (and for only two letters that is a very big word) an Airline sees that they can make money on a service (bearing in mind the set up fees employing ground staff, handling contracts etc) they can make money on a flight then they will plan it and advertise it and then place metal on the schedule. If the return is such that they cannot make money then it will not happen! Airlines (mostly) have shareholders who expect a return on their investment. No return makes shareholders very unhappy. BHX is in the middle of two larger Airports (three if you include LGW) who offer more connections and infrastructure for both passengers (and cargo). As has been said earlier in this thread, "Heathrow is literally the number 50 bus service of flights to the USA!!".

BHX has a healthy service offering from a number of big carriers and the cargo options (whilst calming down post-Christmas) are still excellent. Should we not concentrate on keeping the routes we have and developing those Airlines instead of chasing our tails trying to persuade an Airline to open a route which, while it may make the spotters happy, brings little to no profit to anyone? Remember US Airways and their 1 x season to PHL?

Passengers are a fical lot. Most will look at prices and see what gives them a better return for their hard earned cash. If that means travelling down to LHR / LGW or up to MAN, if it saves an average passenger some money then 9 times out of 10 that is exactly what they will do!

BHX should (in my opinion) keep on doing what it does best and as far as I am concerned that does not mean chasing a pipe dream of a daily flight to the USA! There are other markets out there that can give a better return. Lets go for them instead.

Nah its just a vanity thing because Wrexham have got United front of their shirt.
Like Etihad at man city flying from MAN , or Emirates with Arsenal at 3 London airports, can't seem to locate Wrexham Airport on Google maps either.....

Just read on an other forum passenger bookings from cental Europe are down between 20 and 39% over July/Sept with Frankfurt down the most at 39%

USA flights …
Just my thoughts & I really do not see that there is enough demand & from my own pole of interest from my group of friends - none of them have any interest in going to USA, 2 said they thought there were flights already & 3 said it’s always cheaper to go to London to get flights

i have friends over there and I would like to visit them, but I’m thinking of waiting and hoping that the Trump storm blows over.

Starting this year, they will ask travellers applying for an ESTA to provide DNA samples and turn off the privacy settings on their social media. This just doesn’t sit comfortably with me, I think it’s an excessive intrusion on people’s privacy.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
