I see that they're rioting in Winson Green.

My first thought was that it may have been on James Turner Street with Fun-Gi losing a can of Special Brew but it turns out to be G4S run HMP Birmingham.

Not being funny but the only time I've ever dealt with G4S was when the guy seriously struggled to read my gas meter, in fact I ended up reading the numbers out to him :watching:

It doesn't exactly fill one with confidence.

This isn't the first time that the aforementioned company has caused problems (wasn't there something regarding the London Olympics?).
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for free enterprise. But some aspects of our society should remain under state control - Police, Fire, NHS, Defence, Prisons and Search and Rescue.

I'm a little perplexed as to why G4S (formerly Group 4 Security) were reading your gas meter? G4S and GAS are very different.

I was also perplexed when, after acknowledging himself as being here to read the meter, I saw the guys G4S badge.

Now this is random! I while away a little bit of time each day by playing solitaire on my computer. Now here's the point; if i play with a pack of cards i generally win about three times in eight, however on the computer i will win about once every 15 if i am lucky....

I am not computer savvy, either with the functionality or with the 'dark arts' that these things can undertake.

So, the question is: when i am playing scrabble on line, can the computer manipulate the cards not yet revealed to ensure i do not win?. I hope i have explained that fully, because so often cards turn up as if to ensure i don't win.

With a pack of cards i can, at the end of the game, turn them all over and see where all the remaining cards were. With the computer i cannot.

Any computer boffin out there who can provide an answer?

In terms of solitaire I suspect the computer shuffle is much better than the manual one which will leave a lot of the cards in sequence from the previous game. Suggest you try shuffling for a longer timed period and see what happens.

A question probably for the more technically minded but one i would appreciate an answer to.
I have noticed a few tines on Flightradar that an Aer Lingus A320 flying BHX-DUB cruises at a lower altitude than
a Ryanair 737 even though they may have departed only a few minutes apart. This evening the Aer Lingus never exceeded 18000ft whilst the Ryanair was a few minutes behind at 26000ft.
Presumably its a fuel issue but i really don't know.

Have added a slightly more modern type to the collection . I quite like the 146 as it's just a bit different from most other stuff . I believe Jersey European 146s were frequent birmingham visitors in the 90s?View attachment 4307

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
