You would hope LBA will construct a temporary shelter for people awaiting arriving passengers. (What I thought was a covered walkway outside the terminal front is infact just a temporary toilet block shelter).
For whatever reason (lack of LBA aviation news perhaps?), the other UK airport forums don't tend to digress away from the subject of aviation to the level that ours does. It is after all an aviation forum. I for one, are dreading the start of the football season!
I agree Statto. The works go way beyond simply renewal. An additional 10 new stands nor is the ability for an enlarged terminal to process 3m more pax p.a.
Now Phase 2 is underway, am I right in assuming the priority is to create the new CSZ area in between check in hall A and B so as to allow the current CSZ to be vacated and transformed into a new arrivals waiting area?
My issue centres around the fact that the restriction is effectively a 31 year old limitation when aircraft were considerably more noisy. An Airbus NEO or a Boeing Max on approach into LBA is barely audible, irrespective of the time of day (or night).
Looking on the positive side, it may encourage a drive to attract more non based operations that can operate between 0600 and 2300 hrs.Furthermore, FR seems to be able to operate a successful base ex LBA without really encroaching into the 'night period '.
Presumably a consultation will be needed to ascertain whether a further consultation will be needed before any findings can be published. Expect a decision before the end of the decade.
