Hi all,
i have noticed on the Manchester airport website that the incoming funchal has quite a long delay and isn't expected to come in until tomorrow afternoon, anyone know what the cause of the delay is?
thanks.

Has the aircraft gone tech out there?

Jet2 have just added 3 new routes from its Manchester base for summer 2012 and are now on sale. Only a couple a weeks ago did they announce a 4x weekly Barcelona service. All 4 new routes commence from the last weekend in March...

Barcelona = 4x weekly - Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays
Milan (Bergamo) = 2x weekly - Wednesdays & Sundays
Paris CDG = 4x weekly - Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays & Sundays
Toulouse = 3x weekly - Thursdays, Fridays & Sundays

Fantastic News both for Jet2.com and Manchester Airport. I'm thinking this is in retaliation to easyJet's continuing expansion at MAN. Will all the routes be operated by 733's or 738's does anyone know?

The routes will be operated on the following aircraft.

Toulouse:
Tues - 737
Fri - 737
Sun - 737

Paris:
Mon- 737
Thurs - 737
Fri - 737
Sun - 737

Milan:
Wed - 735
Sat - 737

Good to see that Jet2 have picked up on the Toulouse route that bmibaby are vacating.

Hi

Yet more changes to the Manchester summer 2012 Jet2 scheduled.

The new Barcelona service has been increased from 3x weekly to 5x weekly Already due to good advance bookings. Meanwhile the airlines route to nearby Reus (Barcelona South) will in fact continue to be operated 2x weekly next summer even though some people thought it would be dropped due to there new service to BCN.

Meanwhile it also looks like the 5x weekly Manchester to Prague route will be increased to 1x daily next summer 2012 as well.

So my guess is that they getting an extra based aircraft for next summer making a total fleet off 10 aircraft based at MAN...

Im thinking the reason they is keeping the Reus route is due to the fact no other airlines fly to that airport from Manchester and it serves for passengers wishing to go to area without the hassle of going through a big airport like Barcelona

Im guessing you mean in terms of scheduled airline? Both Thomson Airways and Thomas Cook each have at least 2+ weekly flights on 737/757/767 sized aircraft.

yes i am, they are the only scheduled airline that operates the route.

It was back in the air very quickly as when I checked on Flight Radar shortly after The Pole asked the question, EXS879 was showing, heading south from MAN, using 737 G-CELG, so whatever the problem was it was quickly resolved.

Jet2 have dropped there newly announced Manchester – Milan Bergamo service for next summer 2012 as a reaction to the new ryanair base.

I hear that there are other routes that also remain under review for now.

It's a shame that Jet2 will be so affected by the new RYR base, although may push some expansion back over the hill...

Those were my initial thoughts as well. What if Ryanair deal a double blow by announcing more substantial growth over this side of the Pennines? In the Yorkshire Evening Post I noticed a Ryanair ad comparing their prices with Jet2. Clearly Ryanair are after Jet2 so they need to be clever if they are to protect their business.

Personally I think the best thing that Jet2 could do is to flood LBA with additional capacity to ensure there's little space for growth by other operators. The lack of space for expansion at LBA could be the airlines saving grace. As we are all too aware, it takes LBA so long to react to airline growth, such a move would give Jet2 a few years of growing space before other airlines would have a chance to get in on the act.

It seems that way doesn't it. Ryanair obviously thought they were being clever ditching MAN for LBA, but I'm sure a lot of people on here, knew that a RYR return to MAN was going to happen sooner or later. It seems like RYR are back to their tricks of playing one airport off to the other. The new MAN base will probably affect LPL more than LBA, like many have stated.
Ryanair though seem certain to improve their Northern presence. They have more-or-less secured a lot of the south in Stansted and parts of Scotland. Liverpool seems like their main 'Northern hub' and they certain to try and push Jet2 out, like you said Aviador. They now have routes all along the 'Northern stretch'!
LPL-MAN-LBA-DSA-HUY.

LBA is the place, like you said Aviador, to hurt Jet2 the most! MAN they could probably cope with but what Jet2 can play with is their business model. They are a lot more family orientated than Ryanair and are a lot more comparative to easyJet.
That idea of yours, to flood LBA with more routes to prevent a huge Ryanair expansion I think, is the only way that Jet2 can protect their, now, main base and like you said the lack of space for expansion by airlines could be the thing that could, ironically save them!

Also if Jet2 do want to commence long haul flights on a permanent bases, which by the looks of it that's the plan, the best bet is to start now before ryanair launch their new long haul airline, which i don't like the idea of. Also i think more people are to pick jet2 even if there fare is slightly higher due to the fact they offer better service, 7kg more baggage per person is one and does make a difference, they also offer flights during the day not night so it means families don't have to fly at night with, even though some of there flights don't arrive back in UK until around about 1am but that can be lived with. I don't think ryanair will hurt jet2 that much at Manchester. The main reason i am thinking is they done this to compete with the likes of easyjet one of ryanair's main competitor.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
