It’s a shame they don’t try a direct route given the demand, like they have just launched from Manchester this week

They are not doing so from BHX with 50% more Aer Lingus North America-connecting passengers in 2019 than BRS and nearly twice the percentage rise between 2016 and 2019, so probably little likelihood of a BRS service.

The other point is that the figures relate to all Aer Lingus North American destinations, not just a single one such as New York.

Flights are still on sale however which I would have thought they would have been suspended at least

An Irish start-up airline, Emerald Airlines, was reported to be Aer Lingus's preferred option to operate their Regional arm when the Stobart contract ended at the end of next year.

Whether that can be accelerated remains to be seen. BRS-DUB p2p is well catered for with Ryanair but loss of the transatlantic connectivity, recently reported to be very healthy via BRS pre-pandemic, would be a blow, as would losing the Cork route albeit neither have featured much in the past year because of the pandemic, in fact Cork not at all.

Hah, I thought you were hinting at the "Direct flights to the US from Manchester" announcement - guess that'd be a bit too ambitious

Thank you Redflyer. Yes mainline aer lingus is back with an A320
Booking engine showing BRS-DUB 5 x weekly (morning flight) from 1 August with no Wednesday or Saturday flights - these days are shown as 'sold out' which might indicate that they could be reinstated at some point in the next few months. Nothing for winter shown yet - all dates are currently shown as 'sold out'.

Nothing shown for BRS-ORK yet in summer or winter in the booking engine.

I looked at the timetables but there is a note saying that schedules are changing frequently at the moment and timetables might not be up to date.

It's really a case of regular checking going forward from here to see if things change.

Second day of operation and today's flight has been cancelled. Confirmed with Dublin airport flight movements as the BRS departures/arrivals website pages aren't completely reliable.

Looks like the flight diverted into CWL due to fog and the ILS out of service on RW27 (being replaced I think?)
Thanks Severn. BRS departures page shows it is cancelled as does the BRS arrivals page. I then checked Dublin Airport arrivals page that also showed it as cancelled. If I'd checked FR24 I would have seen that the inbound was diverted.

The return to DUB was probably cancelled as FR24 aircraft recent operational history shows it returning to Ireland from CWL in pretty short under, so unless the diversion was anticipated there would not have been time to take the passengers by road to CWL.

At the moment FR24 shows aircraft landing on runway 09 which of course unlike 27 doesn't have Cat3b ILS.

Aer Lingus A320 at BRS on Sunday last (first day).

Passenger loads - Friday 24th September.

My good friend was crew onboard todays Aer Lingus A320 operating Dublin - Bristol - Dublin.

Apparently loads weren't bad for the current times - 116 inbound and 97 outbound. Thats without the US being open and therefore lots of transfer passengers as well as there also being 3x Ryanair flights today between Bristol and Dublin.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
