Heard a rumour today that Aurigny Air Services are in talks with the airport over a possible Guernsey route.

They operate to; Bristol, Southampton, East Midlands, Manchester, Gatwick and Stansted into the UK, so should be interesting as to why Leeds has cropped up with Manchester just over the hill!

I don't know what will come of it, but Guernsey hasn't been on the LBA destinations list for quite I while I believe....

I think AirUK might have been the last operator, or maybe Jersey European which is now known as Flybe. It would certainly be a welcome return to see the route served again.

Aurigny to Guernsey 2-3 times weekly could be a good route for LBA.

Aurigny have been solid at MAN for years now, even with competition (Flybe then Blue Islands).

Flybe lost the route license for MAN-Guernsey a few years back and are desperate to get it back, so, the north West market must be quite good for it.

Id say Monday, Friday and sunday to tap into the week long break market, as well as the long/short weekenders could work a treat!

Flew to Guernsey in October 2000 on a Jersey European DHC8.200. I don't think that anyone has operated the route since.

Here's a good one for you. The Return of Aer Lingus Regional (Aer Arann) to Leeds maybe possibly on the cards in the future, that’s if the following article in today’s Irish Examiner is anything to go by as Leeds is mentioned in the last paragraph.

Aer Lingus, chief executive Christoph Mueller was quoted as saying the following yesterday

"You can expect, as we go forward, all dependant on the economy, that more and more routes currently on regional will be replaced by Aer Lingus 320 aircraft and we will move regional to the Leeds, to East Midland type of development," he added

It would have to be an early morning flight to catch the transatlantic inbounds and then back to catch the outbounds. They can't compete with Ryanair on price for point to point traffic so they will have to aim at transatlantic traffic.

Are Aer Lingus part of any Airline Alliance? It would be useful to use this if onward connections through Dublin were to be considered.

I know they have Codeshare agreements with many airlines, one I know of from the top of my head; United Airlines.

I think people would prefer however to still go direct... such as from MAN, but should be good to have some competition, as I know many people who wouldn't dream of flying Ryanair, which I suppose is their prerogative.

[offtopic]Aer lingus did offically leave the alliance back in 2007, but recently there has been talk of the airline rejoining the one world alliance along with ethiad.

I heard from someone who I know quite well, and has been correct on many other rumours he has told me, and so I am presuming it may be "work in progress"...?

They do have a substantial presence however over at MAN, and so I don't know how realistic this will be...

Another airport I heard they were looking into was NCL and also up into Scotland possibly, to try and connect the whole of the UK with the Channel Islands a lot easier, but they currently do not have the aircraft availability to operate any new services, as they tend to operate from 'Southern' airports such as; Bristol, East Midlands, Southampton, Gatwick, Stansted.
The furthest Northern airport they fly to is Manchester I believe..

I will obviously let you all know if I hear anything else..

Thomsons seem to be adding a Dalaman flight out of LBA for next Summer. I've just recieved an e-mail for Thomson Cruises and you can fly on a Monday from LBA to join the cruise in Marmaris. It sails at 22.00 from Marmaris so that should mean a Monday morning departure from LBA.

Another option for you to consider. They could be just taking seats allocation on either Thomas Cook or Jet2's Monday flights to Dalaman. I guess we will all just have to wait and see what appears tomorrow on there website as that's when Thomson will release there Summer 2013 programme for sale.

Yeah, could well be LBASpotter. The details they have sent me are for Monday 6th May. So if it's seats on a LS flight that mean they're starting their DLM flights early next year. If it's seats with TCX that means that their DLM flights will have a Monday morning departure from next summer instead of their usual Monday evening flights.
I was hoping that Thomson Holiday may have brought a bit of Turkish metal to us for next Summer but going on the cruise ship timings it can't be done. The ships sails at 22.00 on Monday evenings and gets back to Marmaris the following Monday at 08.00. When PGT operated DLM-LBA-DLM flights a few years back the inbound flight to LBA left Turkey at 05.00...I know cos I was on one of them. That's too early for the cruise pax to catch the return sector home. So it must be going to be operated on a LBA based aircraft.
