I hope it's not a case of 'she would say that, wouldn't she?' because she was complimentary about CWL when CEO of CityJet at the time that airline commenced operations there, with hints of more to come. I remember at the time there were high hopes that CityJet would prove to be a catalyst for the airport, a mantle that Flybe (and Vueling) have subsequently taken on.

An increase in services at CWL at a time when the airline is cutting back in size a bit would see the words turned into actions.

Flybe Winter 2017/18
Belfast is 8 weekly with a Q400 with extra flights on Saturday and Sunday to make the 8th rotation
Berlin TXL is 3 weekly Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday.
Cork is 3 weekly Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday with a Q400 used on Tuesday and Thursday.
Dublin is 14 weekly with 3 flights on Fridays and 1 on Saturday.
Edinburgh is 12 weekly.
Faro is 2 weekly on Sunday and Thursday but there are big gaps in early December, January and March where there are no Faro flights.
Geneva is 1 weekly on Saturdays from 14th December.
Glasgow is 6 weekly Monday to Friday and Sunday on a Q400.
Jersey is 3 weekly Monday, Wednesday and Friday on a Q400.
London City is 11 weekly Monday to Friday twice daily and Sunday daily.
Milan MXP is 3 weekly Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Munich is 4 weekly Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
Paris CDG is daily.
Rome FCO is 1 weekly on Saturday.

Looks like Chambery may have been dropped but considering winter charters were mentioned and the gaps in the Faro schedule could be used for them it may be added at a later date.

Chambery is more or less all ski. Not much snow there in the summer,so only sight seeing really.

They could be waiting for a tour company to confirm they are going to take some of the seats. The surprises is that FCO is only 1 weekly and MUC is 4 weekly. It will be interesting to see what they fill the gaps with.

Good news about the coming winter schedules. I'm surprised at the reduction on Geneva and Rome though.

Looking at the loads for February (yes, I know it's still winter) I'm more convinced than ever that the E195 is too big for most of the routes. Two E175s would be better fits. On routes such as EDI there might be some days when a 175 is sold out with people still wanting to book. However, that would be good for the airline, as fares could be adjusted upwards for the late bookers, and would help to make the base self-sustainable without the need for subsidy.

easyJet often sells out on some routes yet sees no need to increase the number of rotations to accommodate people who were too late to book.

Interesting point raised by the Flybe CEO in her recent press interview in Wales when she said, “For us having a partner (a reference to CWL- my italics) having a sustainable plan is important. Of course it would be difficult for us to see more competition on the routes we are flying, so we would like to see more players but not for the same routes."

Flybe has never liked competition at its smaller airports, a stance that it has made clear to EXT (that relies almost entirely on the airline for its scheduled traffic as well as being Flybe's headquarters and home to its engineering base and training school) more than once.

Given that it seems that Ryanair won't operate CWL-FAO this winter it will be interesting to see what Flybe does about FAO in summer 18, assuming that Ryanair returns on the route then.

I think it depends on what routes Flybe will operate in the future. EDI, DUB, JER, ORK, CDG, BHD, DUS and GLA won't really attract any other airlines and can be operated with a Q400 base which might make it more sustainable for Flybe in the future. TXL, MUC, MXP, FCO, VRN, GNV and FAO would be jet routes. Out of them FAO, FCO, VRN and MXP could be more vunerable to another airline like Ryanair or Jet2 or Monarch if they setup at the airport.

Just got back this morning from EDI with Flybe. Had a lovely flight and i estimate there were about 70 passengers onboard with about 75 disembarking from the arrival flight at EDI. Noticed that the Dash 8 was parked up when i arrived and there were 4 cabin crew members on this flight (3 on my flight up on Friday) and one had a northern irish accent so it may be possible the Dash 8 crew helped out the Embraer crew this morning?
Another thing that i noticed was that i didn't here any Scottish voices on either flights. So i was wondering if the Scots don't see Wales as a holiday destination? Or it could be that they just use EZY at BRS?

Just noticed on the Flybe website that LCY is not bookable from the 29th October. Possibly changing the times or dropping it? I've also noticed that AMS has appeared on the drop down but is only bookable 1 way via GLA and then SOU.

If they are in the process of replacing LCY with AMS (was AMS via GLA/SOU previously in the drop down?) the latter is likely to prove a more popular route.

Just had a look again and it is still not bookable but GLA, BHD, JER and ORK are unchanged for the moment so hopefully the Q400 will be staying. They do seem to be expanding more into the AMS market and there could well be a market that KLM aren't tapping into as they can be quite expensive. Question is though would BE do daily or twice daily? If only daily there could be potential more another route or increased frequency on another route.

AMS has never come up in the booking engine before that i've seen. Weird thing is that the return isn't bookable it just says flight full.

It's certainly possible that they might be in the process of altering the booking engine.

It is a weird one though as they put it on sale not so long ago. Looking at prices for the summer and there are some very cheap flights as low £13.00 one way. Hopefully we'll find out tomorrow if there is a new route to replace it.

LCY is still not on sale on Flybe's website for after October but it is on sale on Skyscanner and apparently it's still in the GDS system. Can't understand why they would take it off sale from their own website yet 3rd parties can still put the flights on sale?

They took a while to load the LCY flights for the summer. Let's just wait and see.

But these were loaded originally and put on sale 11 weekly flights and then taken off sale on Flybe's website.

The Tuesday Munich flight has been dropped for the winter so now it's 3 weekly Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Possibly GVA or FCO to replace it?

According to a poster on another forum LCY has now disappeared from GDS so it could be safe to say it won't be operated next winter. BHD, GLA, JER, ORK and Sunday DUB Q400 flights are unchanged at the moment so it looks like the Dash is staying. I wonder if they are going to bring in AMS if they would use the Dash for DUB then use the time on the E jet for AMS?

Hopefully we will see Innsbruck and/or Salzburg appear for the winter.

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
