My only flight on a MD80 was from Bristol to Tenerife south sometime in the early 1990's. I believe the airline was Spantax . The one thing I remember was that there was a lady Captain. The flight was uneventful. but it was the smoothest landing I have ever experienced.

If it was the early 90s it would not have been Spantax as they ceased operating in 1988.

It might have been Spanair. They had a few MD80 series and certainly operated them out of Bristol for tour operators in some years in the 90s and early years of this century before they ceased to operate in 2012.

Spanair took on the ex Paramount MD83 aircraft. All was good till they operated 1 into BRS and it got impounded as it owed money to airport.I cant remember how it was resolved.

... and they didn't operate MD83's. Could have been Oasis but probably Spanair (as TLY said) they operated a lot of IT flights around that time before becoming, eventually, a scheduled airline.

Does CWL have many 'unofficial' off-site car parks?

Not my video as I'm in work but someone was able to film the departure of today's Balkan MD82 LZ-ADV.

Regarding that video of the MD82 take off, as commented on, there wasn’t much runway left, although the plane seemed slow to build up speed.
I looked at the runway length needed for the MD82, thinking that maybe it would need a longer runway due to aircraft age, plus they substituted the aircraft on the next trip.
Cardiff Airport runway length 2392m/7847 ft
MD82 take off distance 2225m/7300ft variable
A320 take of distance 2250m/7400ft variable (inc distance to reject take off).
I realise there are are many variables such as passenger load, full fuel, wet/dry runway, height of runway above sea level, engine type, etc.

Well it was at Bristol yesterday I believe and as it's at Humberside today I'm guessing that the MD82 didn't have a problem with their shorter runway.

Just seems common for this aircraft. Another video of it at Newcastle this week using all the runway. Guess they are just using reduced thrust depending on runway length.

Don't Ryanair do that routinely?
Every airline does if the conditions allow. They would be stupid not to as it saves fuel and engine wear. I think the point of this one is the nose wheel is still down as it passes the touch down point and looks like it lifts off on the piano keys if not a bit later on the displaced threshold.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
