Use this prefix for new threads for Cardiff Airport
it would give CWL two extra routes which in the past have been quite successful.
Whilst those routes have previously done well, I just don’t see Loganair’s higher price point attracting the demand sadly.

Rumour is they’re closing their NCL crew base so am thinking they’re overall retracting rather than expanding things at the moment…
If what's been posted is true and a reply to it as well then I don't think it could be good news for Cardiff. Obviously we have to wait and see and keep fingers crossed.

There's a reply to a Twitter post that EDI is closing too. Just to be clear it's a random reply to the original post so could just be rumour.

This could really go any way...
NCL aircraft relocated to EDI
EDI close and CWL route lost or worked in another way
Aircraft relocated to CWL to a new base(!)

I suspect the NCL aircraft will be relocating to Southampton. Hopefully that reply isn't correct and the base and CWLs route continues. Passenger wise sadly it wouldn't be a disaster but the loss of a destination like Edinburgh pr wise wouldn't be good as no doubt the airports detractors would jump on it despite the circumstances being out of the airports control

Discussion on a different forum that EDI will be slimmed down and become an all ATR base.

Has this route ever been flown by the likes of Ryanair ? So to offer more seats at better prices. Its a hell of a journey by car or train !

Cardiff isn't one of the routes dropped.
It’s either going to be really good news with Cardiff being served by an ATR year round or terrible news with the route dropped.
Having said that, it could be served as part of a W pattern.

I don’t think there’s going to be any “Good News” for Cardiff to come out of this unless they are rationalising their whole EDI offering. I guess it will come down to how profitable the current CWL route is, and whether they want to keep it. On the flipside, if other routes are chopped and CWL is one of the more profitable routes, maybe they’d seek to increase frequency?

The routes they operate from Edinburgh are Bergen, Cardiff, Exeter, Southampton, Sumburgh, Kirkwall, Isle of Man, Guernsey and Newquay last 2 are seasonal.
I'd expect that bets would be placed on Cardiff to be dropped.

Reference to the previous suggestions of a Ryanair service , has Ryanair a base at Edinburgh, with British registered aircraft, which would be required for a UK domestic service.

Don’t forget Bergen is already served by another airline from EDI…

Optimisation of their routes will be key at this time so let’s keeps our fingers crossed.

The negative speculation in CWL in this forum is unnecessary. While we all know CWL often struggles, can we at least remain positive or not comment at all about what might happen? Everyone is entitled to their opinion but negative speculation saying a route will likely be dropped when it is purely just speculation doesn't do anyone any favours.

Personally I think CWL-EDI will be fine. SOU-EDI is 4x daily which would take up a whole aircraft schedule if moved to SOU based, with some other refinements to the timetable using away based aircraft theres no reason why CWL wouldnt continue as it is with upgrade to the ATR.

Tbf it is a forum so people are going to speculate and I guess people are used to CWL getting the short straw in these situations.
Fingers crossed we'll see the route continue as an all ATR route which at current frequency would be a capacity boost.

Today’s loads as an example of how the route must be making them money with the prices they charge

Edinburgh- Cardiff 32/49 65% LF
Cardiff - Edinburgh 48/49 98% LF

I'm surprised the Cardiff to Edinburgh leg is full tbh!

Every time I've taken the flight the passenger load has been in the 30s but with Loganair business model and pricing its hard to know whether that's bad or good.

Word on the street is that Edinburgh routes to be dropped are Bergen, Cardiff, Guernsey and Newquay. Obviously the other three have other airlines (Norwegian, Aurigny and Ryanair) operating them.

Hopefully the word is wrong as it would be a shame to lose the only air link between Wales and Scotland.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?

I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
