Just booked Cardiff to Paris with Flybe in November. Looking forward to flying on their Q400 again as it's been a while!
Only cost £36 one way without any extras, so very happy with that! The last one I flew was London city too Cardiff at least 2 year's ago!

I'm hoping to fly back on the same day via Amsterdam with Air France and KLM, that's the plan but it will depend on the price.

Today is the last flight of the Flybe Rome service. Also ending today are Venice and Verona and Munich ended yesterday. Hopefully these routes will return in the future but now KLM will be the only option for these destinations.

Usual scare tactics by the media. There was NO evacuation as the steps were clearly shown in the photo indicating the passengers were offloaded in the usual manner and not down the emergency shutes as the reporter suggests.

I only found out later that the aircraft was on the taxiway in front of the terminal and not on the runway taking off and there wasn't any load bangs or sudden stops! The article is just exaggerated for clickbait unfortunately.

Total over the top reporting as usual but I’m not sure the aircraft was on the taxi way. You can clearly see it is on the runway in one of the photos with the fire engine in it. Was it back tracking?

It could have been taxiing on the runway then.

As Flybe are cutting quite a lot of routes at other airports i thought i'd check on Cardiff.
Edinburgh has been increased from 18 weekly to 21 weekly.
The route will be 3 daily on Mondays and Tuesdays, 4 daily on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays the extra flights are on these days. 1 daily on Saturdays and 2 daily on Sundays.
The times for the extra flights are EDI-CWL 11.30-12.55 CWL-EDI 13.25-14.50.
Paris, Dublin, Cork, Belfast and Jersey are unchanged.

Has CWL-EDI been operated 4 x daily before - by anyone? I can't remember it happening previously.

Have the fourth rotations on the days in question just been put into the schedule this week? EDI now looks a very good programme. Still seems odd that Flybe couldn't have done something with GLA.

Maybe when BMI baby were operating?
I don't know when they were put in, it was only the cuts that prompted me to look and see if CWL had been effected.
I do find it odd as well that one of the days Wednesday which is generally a quiet day has had an increase from 3 to 4 especially as last winter I'm sure they cut flights on it on that day.
Glasgow was a surprise but maybe they feel they can make more money on other routes with the aircraft? But it has worked well in that Loganair have taken over the route and CWL has another airline that it can hopefully work with in the future.
With Edinburgh hopefully in the summer the other days will get extra flights as well.

bmibaby didn't operate the EDI more than 3 x daily. I've also looked back at the late 1990s when the BA franchisee operated EDI and again 3 x daily is the maximum I can find.

Didn't Flybe though operate at least 2 daily at the same time as BMI baby were operating?

I had a quick look at SWAG website and it looks like back in 2008 BMIbaby and Flybe both operated EDI 2 daily on at least one day coming to 4 daily between them.
2009 looks like it was the last time Edinburgh was 4 daily.

I know that CWL has lost the European routes, but the domestic sectors can't be doing too bad if they are increasing flights in the winter season, albeit on slightly smaller aircraft. Compared to some of the other regional airports CWL hasn't come off too badly.

I think the big disappointment for CWL will be the loss of the base. A lot of money has been invested into the airport with part of that to create jobs for the area and Flybe would be a part of that, instead it seems CWL is an airport that will be flown into and the jobs will go elsewhere to places like Edinburgh and Belfast and Southampton. But i do think it could've been a lot worse as places like Doncaster are finding out. Flybe will be operarting once Geneva and Chambery start 63 weekly departures from the airport. Summer 2020 will be interesting.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
