I agree Jerry. we can only hope for better things, perhaps freight will improve when Aston Martin start production, and Ineos start receiving parts for their project many of which will be coming into Wales from Portugal.

Probably going off thread a bit but it will interesting to see if CWL benefits from dedicated cargo flights for these factories as they don't seem to be attracting many cargo flights.

So Cardiff will see the Virgin brand in the future as Flybe becomes Virgin Connect.II'm a little bit surprised as I was told Virgin felt Flybe was too toxic to put their brand on. Guess not!

So did you think that Flybe would continue as Flybe under the ownership of Virgin and partners? Would that not have meant perpetuating the 'toxic' brand name under the new ownership?

Yes I thought it might be a possibility especially if they concentrated the Flybe brand just on the regional stuff but it appears that the Flybe name will go. Whether it's named Flybe or not they'll still have to make the airline more customer friendly, considered reliable and find a way of replacing any lost revenue from not being draconian on the cabin baggage otherwise the Virgin brand may become toxic. It'll be interesting to see what the new owners do and what type of airline we get from it.

I'm a bit lost with Flybe at the moment, after getting rid of all its jets, it appears they are getting new ones ?!

They'll still have 7 to 9 E175s. The ones for LCY are from Stobart Air due to crew shortages and maybe a way to test if they are economical for the route for the future?

I didn't know that, I thought they had gone all Q400 now. I wonder if they will return to the sun routes ?

The jets will be for mainly Amsterdam and Paris from Birmingham and Manchester unless they are charters I can't see them operating sun routes with them.

Sadly today is the last day of Flybe Embraer E jet operations and the base at Cardiff Airport 🙁 🙁
All flights from tomorrow will be on non based Q400s.

The times for the extra flights are EDI-CWL 11.30-12.55 CWL-EDI 13.25-14.50.

Well sadly it looks like the extra flights on Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays have been cut with Edinburgh going back to 18 weekly, that is a real shame.
Summer 2020 i believe is out next week so hopefully those flights will be reinstated or even better in my view an overnight aircaft to operate a 06.30 or 07.00 departure. Even though the base has closed, Flybe does now have new management so maybe a clean slate for the relationship between both parties.
I know it's probably not wise to speculate but i do hope that EDI will see 4 daily flights in the summer with an overnighting aircraft and that both Paris and Belfast will go back to 11 weekly. Fingers crossed for a weekly Verona as well! I expect the Dublin, Cork and Jersey to stay the same.

I've been told that during the ACC meeting that the airport are due to have a meeting with Virgin Connect next week so hopefully that will be positive for the future of them at Cardiff!

Today at 2pm. I wasn't able to attend but one of the Fly2Cardiff people said he'd share his notes when he writes them up and gave me some feedback especially to a question about TUI that he asked on my behalf.

It was Loganair who the airport are to have a meeting with next week and not Virgin Connect.

In fairness this is a meeting facilitated where Cardiff Airport can push and discover what if any further routes Loganair take on in addition to the Glasgow.

As stated above not guaranteed anything will come of it.

ACC is likely to remain a daytime event moving forward.

Flybe Summer 2020.
Seems that Flybe have loaded up Summer 2020 on probably GDS as i couldn't find anything on their own website but i did find flights onsale on Skyscanner. So this might not entirely be 100% accurate but S20 may well look like this at the moment.
Edinburgh 18 weekly
Dublin 18 weekly
Belfast City 7 weekly
Paris CDG 7 weekly
Jersey 5 weekly
Cork 3 weekly
That comes to 58 weekly departures.
Geneva only operates on the 4th and 11th April and Chambery doesn't operate in April.
Unfortunately it doesn't look like any of the Italy routes will survive, i was hoping they might do Verona but it looks like the airport will have to look elsewhere.
