Each police force has their own policy on what leeway to allow before issuing the dreaded 'Notice of Intention to prosecute' letter. And that policy can vary too. Some are renowned for being rather keen. Some are more forgiving. That's the 'fun' part. It's almost impossible to know if you will be done or not. You might not be in one location and a Mile up the road at the same speed you are heading for a speed awareness course at best, a fine and 3 points or in court! (The latter only if you have been really naughty!).

Nothing to worry about though is there if you obey the law, speed limits are there for a reason and as I say to my pupils a speed limit is not a target, you base your speed on what hazards are around you (eg) slight reduction in speed approaching traffic lights on green in case they change to red so no heavy stop, meeting oncoming traffic where rd width is reduced in 30mph zone, bit less than 30mph ideal. anyway this is a aviation forum not a driving instructors forum

Im afraid I cannot agree with you on this, I have seen speeding tickets which read 34 mph in a 30 mph zone
Perhaps south of the Humber they are a bit meaner but North Yorkshire seem to stick to the up to 35 is alright but go over you are in trouble.

fight2win it was on the A64 before York through a village I am always (well nearly always) careful going though as it is a regular 'safety' camera location.

Can see the anti terminal NIMBYS back out in force with the statement on the back of the bus 'Fly by Night'. Somehow they seem to think we have hundreds of flight during the night time hours and to the airports request to increase passenger numbers will add to the night time flying. These people believe all the lies being told and totally ignore the facts.

Why tell the truth when the lies are much more appealing to certain idiots?

I'm sure the nutty Leeds professors hell bent on driving us back to the stone age will have a good go at it.

There is a very interesting post on the West Yorkshire Transport -Buses site by Ross Bailey. Intimating that there are some more bus services in the pipe line. I don't know how to get the post onto this site. Perhaps Ross Bailey could at some time.

You on about the proposed A4, A5, A6 & A7 buses? .
It's well know fact and the Airport CEO has been quoted in the press that the airport want to introduce fast direct coach type services to Bradford, Leeds & York operating along side the exsisting local services. Its all part of the improving public transport services in the current planning application if you read it.

Certainly seems LBA is going above and beyond what other businesses proposing expansion would do to pacify the tree huggers, many of whom will no doubt, criticise this effort.
The tree huggers don't want buses either, they want you to get on your bike.

Being a realistic that's never going to happen, is it!

Saying that First Leeds are to introduce a fleet of brand new all electric Yutong buses on route 5 very shortly. It will be intresting to see how long theses can stay out in service before having to return to Hunslet Park depot for a re-charge.

186 miles between charges at worst apparently, but like all mileage claims to be taken with a pinch of salt. The only real test is with them in service, stop starting in heavy traffic, headlights on, heater blasting out on full in the middle of winter. Whatever happens they’re sure to be hailed as a great success, they’ve probably already written the press release!

No doubt they are going in the 5 route due to it including a circular around the city centre but I can't help wondering why they put brand new vehicles on a route that, at it's Eastern end, terminates in an estate notorius for attacks on buses by hooligans. I wonder how long they will look so smart!

Doesn't Harrogate have charging points for its electrical buses in the bus station? So in-between turns it charges the buses for a few minutes before they go back onto a route.

That would probably be a good thing to have in Leeds somewhere to allow a re-charge. As usual i bet the council have had notice yet have failed to act. As other's have also suggested i would imagine they'll be removed from the route and maybe but on another where it probably terminates in the bus station to allow a re-charge between turns.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
